This Under-HDB Dessert Cafe Has Taro Jelly, Shaved Ice And More From $2.50 In Hougang

DuoDuo Dou is an under-HDB dessert cafe in Hougang

There’s really no need to travel all the way to town for coffee or desserts, with more HDB cafes in Singapore popping up. Adding to the list is DuoDuo Dou, a new Hougang cafe specialising in shaved ice and jelly desserts with items ranging from $2.50 to $7.90. Plus, they are open till the wee hours, closing at 2am on selected days.

Their menu includes four dessert categories: fruity, bingfen, puree, and shaved ice. There are four variations of their bingfen, AKA ice jelly desserts, with the Taro Jelly Bingfen ($5.90) being a popular pick. You get a bowl of green and purple taro balls, nata de coco, and grass jelly served with milk on the side.

The Mango Puree ($5.90) is another great place to start. The popular dessert is made a little differently at DuoDuo Dou; unlike many other stalls, where you typically get mango cubes, creamy puree, and pomelo bits in your bowl, you also get brown jelly and mini tangyuan here!

There’s nothing quite like a bowl of shaved ice to beat the heat, and their Watermelon Summer ($6.90) is the ideal dessert to cool down with. You get a pile of watermelon shaved ice with huge watermelon balls and nata de coco, finished with a drizzle of condensed milk for added sweetness.

For something a little different, opt for the Marshmellow Lotus Puff ($6.90). Each bowl comes loaded with shaved ice, Lotus crumbs, crispy rice puffs, and colourful mini marshmallows as the finishing touch.

The newly opened dessert cafe requires a fair bit of walking from the nearest train stations, so we encourage you to take a bus from either Serangoon or Hougang MRT Station.
