Fragrance Has New Truffle And Kurobuta Bak Kwa, Pork Floss “Tater Tots” Too

Fragrance bak kwa for CNY 2022

Bak kwa is such a staple for Chinese New Year, and Fragrance is a go-to brand for many Singaporeans. If you’re a fan, or you’re looking to spruce up your usual bak kwa order, then Fragrance has a few new options for you.

First up on their CNY 2022 offerings is the Premium Truffle Bak Kwa ($38 for 450g). Each piece comes vacuum-sealed so that it remains fresh throughout your bai nian period, and is aromatic with notes of truffle.

This is definitely one to have in the house if you love truffle fries, as you get the signature perfume of truffle oil once you rip into the packet, coupled with the sweet-smoky undertones of the barbequed pork jerky.

Bak kwa purists can instead turn to the Premium Kurobuta Bak Kwa ($38 for 450g). This is bak kwa elevated, as each pig-shaped vacuum-sealed slice is made from 100% USA Berkshire Pork, marinated with 18 different herbs and spices for a flavourful oomph.

Berkshire pork, or kurobuta, is super marbled, so once it hits the grill, you get extra tender slices of finger-lickin’ good bak kwa. The pork used in the Kurobuta Bak Kwa is also antibiotic- and hormone-free, as well as minimally processed.

Aside from the bak kwa, Fragrance has a line-up of CNY goodies that are great to have on-hand for bai nian. One must-try is their Crispy Pork Floss Tots ($20.80), a riff on tater tots, with crispy coins of pork floss in place of potatoes.

Pop these in your mouth and let them dissolve with every chew, releasing the honeyed, savoury goodness we know and love from pork floss.

Atop of these classic festive snacks, Fragrance has branched out this year to create ready-to-eat frozen meals that you can simply reheat and enjoy. These are also a fantastic option to bring to the reunion dinner or pot luck if you’re pressed for time.

These range from the affordable Salted Kampong Chicken ($13.90 for 800g), to Slow-Simmered Black Pepper Pork Knuckle ($15.80/kg). Each comes in convenient packs and are easily reheatable with a stove.

Given that CNY kicks off from 31 January onwards, it’s great to beat the queue and order your goodies now. Fragrance has an online store where you can purchase their bak kwa and more, and get free delivery over $88. Otherwise, these are available at Fragrance stores islandwide.
