It is the second year since any Ramadan Bazaar or pasar malam has made an appearance thanks to the current COVID-19 situation. Thankfully, the people at FairPrice have got our backs this festive season, and they are introducing the Geylang Serai Bazaar cheer to the heartlands from now till 19 May 2021.
Take note: this means getting some Geylang bazaar #feels indoors, without the heat!
While some night market stalls have transitioned into permanent ones such as Pasar Malam Corner and Cult Sliders, some had to scale down and recoup losses by operating as small home businesses. In the next month, FairPrice will be bringing in a few of these well-missed stalls selling festive nosh with booths by in the following selected outlets around Singapore:
You can look out for IG-worthy baked goodies such as Ferrero Rocher Swiss Roll ($35) and Rainbow Nutella Swiss Roll ($18), amongst a full range of Traditional Malay Kuih at $2 each or $5 for three.
Look out for a list of recorded cooking shows here, featuring popular Ramadan Bazaar stalls such as Meatmymeat, as they whip up their easy yet oh-so-hearty Buffalo Cheesesteak Hotdog. All ingredients used can be bought in the supermarket itself, so take down notes to replicate it yourself at home.
Of course, we are not forgetting the beautifully decorated Pisang Keju, taught by the owner of The Original Pisang Keju. Keep your eyes peeled for tips and tricks to give you that pleasing crunch and aromatic combination of deep-fried bananas and shredded cheese.
Make it a full Ramadan Bazaar experience by learning and recreating Charkoi’s house-special Honey Buih Thai Iced Tea with that IG-worthy milk foam top in your own kitchen. This is one drink that will surely deliver the Geylang Serai aesthetic for a fun celebration with loved ones at home.Â
This festival is all about feasting and sharing. If the idea of having a wide spread of Ramadan food at home can rouse you from your bed and into the kitchen, you are due for a visit to the supermarket. To celebrate this fasting month, FairPrice has put together shelves of exclusive snacks, quick meal solutions, and even pretty-in-pink kitchen equipment in stores.
Ramadan essentials range from yummy and nutritious beverages such as Magnolia Kurma Fresh Milk ($4.50) or Farm Fresh Kurma Milk ($3.55), to instant meals such as microwavable Prata Wala Egg Prata With Curry Chicken ($4.90) and Mutton Murtabak ($4.90) for that quick fix after sundown.Â
To spread the Hari Raya Puasa joy, there will also be lucky draw prizes to be won. Try your luck to win a Samsung 55-inch TV worth $1,799 or a Samsung Galaxy A12 mobile phone worth $288, with a minimum spending of just $30 in a single receipt. This applies to any FairPrice, FairPrice Finest, FairPrice Xtra, Unity, Warehouse Club outlet, Cheers, and FairPrice Express outlets. You can also up your chances by buying any of the participating products!Â
