I’ve spent so many of my polytechnic days mugging at Gloria Jean’s Coffees, so their recent return to Singapore was a big dose of nostalgia for me. If you’ve got fond memories of the coffee house, then you’ll be happy to know that Gloria Jean’s Coffees has announced that their West Coast Plaza is officially turning into a 24/7 joint, making it great for night owls and Westies alike looking for a place to study, work, or simply pass time with friends.
The spacious 88-seater cafe is located on the first floor of West Coast Plaza. It is very cosy, with soft seats, long booths, and armchairs available for you to park yourself at. In some ways, the space mirrors the vibe that trendy co-working spaces in Singapore have! Seats are all decently spaced out, so you’ll be able to read, work, or hang out with a bit of privacy.
You can make your orders from the main counter, which includes an extensive glass display case full of savoury and sweet items, whether it be pastries, cakes, wraps or pies.
If you’re stuck on what beverages to order, we highly recommend going for the Voltage Espresso Chiller ($6.90).
This blended drink comes with a shot of espresso, a smooth vanilla base, and espresso beans, all to create a drink that’ll wake you up, STAT. Flavourful, bodied, and not-too-sweet, this is one for those long-haul nights when you really need to keep alert.
Those who prefer not to take caffeine can choose from a variety of other cold or hot drinks, from fruity chillers to Italian sodas, teas, and hot chocolates.
Get warm and cosy with GJ’s Signature Hot Chocolate ($6.50), Gloria Jean’s Coffees’ take on the classic hot chocolate, made with dark chocolate, steamed milk, and fluffy marshmallows.
It’s also a very festive drink, a great pick leading up to Christmas!
Tea lovers can pick from a range of house tea blends, including the aromatic Rose Petal Tea ($5), comprising real rose petals that steeps to reveal a delicate, floral profile.
The full range of food items is available round the clock, so we have a few recommendations. There’s the Chicken Mushroom Pie ($6.50), where savoury chicken filling is studded with umami mushrooms, encased in a flaky pastry, and their Yuzu Cake ($6.90), citrusy, with a light buttercream to finish.
If you’re thinking of heading by soon, here’s something to note: Eatbook readers can enjoy 20% off when they swing by between 11pm to 7am, from 2 December to 4 December 2022. Simply flash this post to enjoy the deal!
