10 Gruesome Dishes To Eat On Halloween Scarier Than Any Haunted House

Get grossed out this Halloween

Tired of going to the same old haunted houses and waiting in line at Universal Studios for Halloween Horrors? Well here’s another suggestion to get your spine tingling this Halloween. We’ve gathered 10 of the most bizarre and grotesque foods you can find in Singapore, will you be able to stomach these delectable dishes? Or will you run and hide in a haunted house in Universal Studios?

1.Crocodile Tail

Source

It’s perhaps the deadliest tail in the animal kingdom, but if you do decide to summon your courage and bite into its chewy and gelatinous body, you might be rewarded with an array of benefits including increased metabolism, vitality and libido.

Where: Old Geylang Seafood
Address: 1 Geylang Lorong 23, Highpoint Block 6,
Opening Hours: Sun-Thurs: 12pm – 2am

2. Frog Fallopian Tube (Hasma)

Source

If frog legs are already too normal for you, try this instead! These bubbly gooey balls are actually the fat scraped off frog fallopian tubes. If you’re wondering what fallopian tubes are, it’s the tube connecting the ovaries to the uterus. The Chinese believe it aids your respiratory system, but I’m willing to bet the price tag on these things will take your breath away first.

You’ll be able to get hasma at any Chinese medical hall

3. Fish Sperm

Source

Relax, your precious reputation will stay intact after taking a mouthful of this mushy matter. It’s a Japanese delicacy and a prized one at that. Although I loathe to imagine what prompted its discovery as a food item in the first place. The taste is actually similar to regular fish roe and it’s also packed with nutrients. So go on, make your momma proud and slurp up some shirako today!

Where: FUKU Fine Fugu Kaiseki Restaurant
Address:14 Mohamed Sultan Road #01-01

4. Pig brain Soup

Source

Zombies aren’t the only ones craving for brains these days, the Chinese are too! It’s believed that pig brains do great things for your mental abilities so you might want to drink up before an important exam. I guess you’ll have to decide if that F on your report card is scarier than chugging down a soup nightmares are made of.

The soup isn’t on the regular menu and you have to order in advance at this number 67522779

5. Turtle Soup

Source

Your cute little amphibious friends and possibly your first pet also makes for a great soup! It’s extremely healthy too, one of the healthiest soups you can possibly drink with it’s low fat, high vitamin and low cholesterol statistics. The base is actually chicken stock, it’s then boiled with turtle meat and innards to develop its unique flavour.

Where: Old Geylang Seafood
Address: 1 Geylang Lorong 23, Highpoint Block 6,
Opening Hours: Sun-Thurs: 12pm – 2am

6. Blue Cheese

Source

It looks gross, and it smells even worse. Some say it’s an acquired taste but I say they are just insane. Love it or hate it, blue cheese is actually pretty common nowadays and you can find it in any Cold Storage. If you think it smells rotten, that’s because it technically is! Blue cheese is made by injecting a mould into the fresh cheese and allowing it to age. Don’t worry though the mould though, it’s completely safe for human consumption – if you can get the taste of your tongue before you puke that is.

Where: You’ll find it at any Cold Storage

7. Balut

Source

Possibly the grossest item on the list, balut is a half developed duck embryo that is boiled. The dish originated from the Philippines and it’s eaten whole, bones and all. It’s commonly dipped in vinegar and chilli or a variety of other seasonings depending on which South-East Asian country you’re in. My filipino friends swear by it, but I doubt I’d ever take the plunge myself.

Where: Food stalls in Lucky Plaza are your best bet

8. Sundae

Source

Bet you were expecting good old ice cream! Sorry to burst your bubble but Sundae in Korean refers to blood sausage! A typical Sundae is made from pork intestine that’s stuffed with blood, cellophane noodles and bits of minced meat. Now there’s one more thing you can do with the blood of your enemies!

Where: Ga Ya Geum Korean Family Restaurant

Opening Hours: Mon – Sat: 1130am – 3pm / 530pm – 10pm, Sun: 5pm – 10pm
Price:$12

9. Duck Tongue

Source

I’ll admit, this is one thing on the list I enjoy. The tongues are usually braised and covered in a heavy savoury sauce. It’s chewy and you have to watch out for the bone it comes attached to, but it’s actually quite delicious.  It’s texture is close to that of a bamboo clam. You might enjoy this yourself once you get the image of you french kissing a duck out of your head.

Where: Paradise Dynasty
Address: View outlets here
Price: $9.80

10. Crocodile Penis

Source

Poor crocodiles must have really pissed off some Chinese people in the past to be subjected to this! It looks like a drumstick, which may come in handy if you’re looking to prank someone. Prized for its aphrodisiac like qualities, these chewy delights have been on Chinese dining tables since chopsticks were invented.
