Around five years ago, Haji Lane didn’t exactly strike me as a go-to place for dining; it felt more like an overhyped, touristy spot. Fast forward to the post-Covid era, it seems to have gone through a refresh, following a boom in trendy and unique eateries popping up in the area. If you happen to be there, here are 12 Haji Lane food places worth exploring, whether you’re in the mood for a quick snack or a hearty meal.
For those seeking affordable Muslim-friendly cuisine, The Halal Corner is a must-visit. This two-storey restaurant is known for its generous portion sizes and a wide selection of mains. One standout dish is the Carbonara Beef John ($10+), a creative twist on the classic roti john, featuring a delectable carbonara sauce and tender beef chunks. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, try their Samyang Carbonara ($19.90+) instead. This fan-favourite features a generous serving of pasta drenched in a creamy and spicy sauce, complemented by a crispy chicken cutlet.
From our The Halal Corner review: “The chicken cutlet is tender and juicy, lightly coated in a batter that’s crispy and well-seasoned.”

Gelato craftsmanship takes centre stage at Momolato. The cafe’s owner, Sharon, even clinched the top prize at the Asia Pacific leg of the Gelato World Tour in 2015!
Choose between their fluffy waffles and croffles, which come with a side of gula melaka caramel sauce and mascarpone vanilla cream. Those going for waffles can choose from flavours including Buttermilk ($7.50) and Truffle ($10), or pair them with a scoop of Sea Salt Roasted Sicilian Pistachio or Hokkaido Cream Chocolate Hazelnut gelato. A single scoop is priced from $5.30.
A few minutes walk down is Momolato’s newly opened second outlet at North Bridge Road. Here, you can experience new gelato flavours including the Yuzu Hibiscus Flavour, Mango Chilli Lime, and Hibiscus Apple, the latter being one of Sharon’s personal favourites.
From our Momolato review: “The Hibiscus Apple gelato is a crowd favourite for a good reason. Made with apple bits, this gelato boasted a refreshing flavour and a delicate floral undertone, perfect to have on a sunny day.”

Rumifolks, previously known as Rumi The Poet’s Cup, has been drawing crowds since its opening. A stylish cafe adorned with wooden furniture, warm lighting, and neutral-toned walls, it’s the perfect spot for those looking to catch up over waffles and coffee.
For savouries, go for their Croissant Avodaco ($11.90), which sees a hearty croissant loaded with sliced avocados, grilled onions, fresh Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, roasted cherry tomatoes, creamy egg mayo, and a sprinkle of paprika. Those looking to share can go for the Art of Mason Waffles ($13), a chocolatey mess comprising rich chocolate Belgian waffles with double chocolate chip ice cream, Kinder Bueno chocolate, marshmallows, and chocolate drizzle. Pair your food with the Iced Salted Caramel Macchiato ($8.50), a sweet and creamy coffee with hints of salt. On a hot day out, go for the refreshing High Iced Tea ($7) instead.
From our Rumi The Poet’s Cup feature: “This drink is great for those who prefer something refreshing, as its apple and mint tea infusion is light and easy on the palate.”

A few units down from Rumifolks is Kowboy Singapore, best known for its UFO burgers and milkshakes. ICYMI: a UFO burger is essentially burger ingredients encased in a pita bun, resembling a flying saucer.
During our visit, we had the signature UFO Cosmic Truffle ($12.80). Think 120g of A5 Wagyu patty paired with sauteed mushrooms, melted cheese, fresh tomatoes and lettuce, fragrant truffle oil, and their house-made truffle mayo. Fried chicken lovers, go for the UFO Supernova Mentaiko ($12.80), featuring crispy chicken katsu topped with juicy pineapples, melted cheese, red cabbage, and a drizzle of spicy cod roe mayo for a slight kick.
From our Kowboy review: “This burger was a collective favourite as the mentaiko sauce was not too jelak, and the textural contrast between the crunchy ebi roe and tender chicken cutlet kept us wanting more!”

For lesser-seen Cajun cuisine, head to RIB Soul Food, a cosy restaurant in the heart of Haji Lane. You can’t leave without trying the Build-Your-Own-Ribs (from $24.90++), a fully customisable dish where you can choose between beef short ribs or lamb ribs. The lamb ribs were not gamey, and instead, they were tender and juicy. For sweets, don’t miss out on the New Orleans Chocolate Souffle ($11++), which sees a huge chocolate pancake topped with crunchy cornflakes. This is a great option for fans of rich, bittersweet flavours, though we recommend pairing it with a refreshing drink to wash down any heaviness.
From our RIB Soul Food review: “The souffle kept its height even after the prolonged shoot, which was quite impressive as this baked egg dish tends to flatten quickly.”

Bagel lovers, you’ll want in on this. Popular bagel cafe Wooly’s Bagels opened its third outlet at Arab Street in 2024. We recommend starting with their GTFBagel ($15.50), which is short for Get The Freak Bagel. Creamy scrambled eggs meet chicken ham, a crispy hashbrown, and truffle mayonnaise, creating a hearty bite for those on the go. Their T.C.B ($16.80) also comes highly recommended, starring a teriyaki chicken bagel with house-made garlic sesame sauce, shallots, and a sunny-side-up egg.
From our Wooly’s Bagels feature: “This location looks to be their biggest yet, with more indoor seats available, plus several tables along the corridor outside the eatery where you’ll be kept cool by not one, but two ceiling fans.”

Get some light bites too, including the Chilli Oil Shrimp Wanton with Fish Row ($18++ for five), or the Shrimp Paste Karaage ($10++); the latter is boneless chicken thigh with shrimp paste and sweet chilli sauce. For mains, go for the Wagyu Beef Noodles ($16++) or the Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee ($18++) for something more familiar.

Fusion izakaya Habibi-san serves Middle Eastern food with a Japanese twist. Their standout dish is the Mentaiko Taramasalata ($14+), which combines mentaiko XO sauce with house-made labneh, AKA Greek yoghurt. You can enjoy this as is, or by spreading it on Pita Bread ($3+). For something heartier, order the De Raza Iberico Pork Collar Chop ($42+), served with shogayaki glaze and coban salad.
Round off your meal with the Grilled Peach Tart ($14+) or the Coffee Cake ($14+); the cake features coffee-spiked cream atop salted digestive biscuit crumble, Tia Maria coffee liquor, yuzu peel, and creamy miso kinako mascarpone.
