There’s A New Izakaya In Bendeemer With Fresh Handrolls From $8++

HANDO is a new izakaya with affordable Japanese fare

A Japanese izakaya has just opened in Bendeemer, offering affordable bar snacks and other small plates. Soft-launched on 30 October 2026, HANDO has a modern concept, with a dimly lit interior and laid-back atmosphere designed for friends to gather and hang out.

The restaurant’s signature is its handrolls, made in front of you across the counter, so you can enjoy them fresh. Each handroll is customisable, with your choice of red or white vinegar, rice portion, and wasabi.

Prices start from $8++ with the Tai handroll. For a more indulgent option, the Uni Bomb ($28++) is loaded with fresh uni and uni cream. Other options include Seared Anago ($10++), made with grilled eel, and Engawa ($10++), an incredibly rich, buttery fish.

If you’re torn between choices, they offer sets such as The HAND-Some One ($45++), which includes five rolls, and The Full HANDO ($78++), which has seven rolls, including the Uni Bomb.

For a full lunch, the Quick HANDO ($28++) comes with three rolls, miso, pickles, and cold tea. You can top up with the More Fun ($18++) set, which offers two off-menu rolls on top of an existing set.

Beyond hand rolls, the izakaya also serves grilled food, bar bites and more. This includes Chicken Thigh skewer ($4.50++), Shiitake skewer ($8++), and Mix Fish ($14++), a selection of sashimi dressed in sesame sauce and seaweed tempura.

If you’re with friends, the HANDO Karaage ($12++), Fish Skin (8++), and Corn Tofu ($9++) are suited for sharing. For something heartier, the HANDO Uni Udon ($28++) has udon with uni cream, topped with more uni and ikura.
