If there’s one ramen shop that 99% of Singaporeans go to when they visit Tokyo, it’s Ichiran. Known for their delicious tonkotsu ramen, this ramen chain always sees long queues in Japan, no matter which outlet you hit.Â
Those who are craving for it are in luck, because Ichiran will be holding a pop-up in Singapore from 3 to 20 October 2019, at Orchard Road. They’ll be one of the booths at the upcoming Japan Food Matsuri event held at Takashimaya Square in Ngee Ann City.

Those who have already tried their tonkotsu ramen, however, might find the version served at the event a little lacking, as they’ll be offering their instant ramen rather than freshly made noodles. While the dish will be topped with the usual garnish such as spring onions, it will not have chashu or egg.Â
Each bowl will be priced at $12 nett, and only 700 bowls will be served each day. Those who want to bring some home can also buy the boxed instant noodles—the ones you can get at Don Don Donki—on the spot.

Ichiran was started in Fukuoka, which is said to be the origin of tonkotsu ramen. Their pork bone broth is simmered for hours, and their signature spicy red sauce is made with 30 ingredients.Â
The Ichiran pop-up is part of the third Ramen Revolution festival held in Singapore. This annual noodle event lets you try dishes from lesser-known ramen restaurants in Singapore as well as from Japan.Â
Aside from Ichiran, you will also find ramen chains from Sapporo, namely 175 Degrees Deno Ramen and Yoshiyama Shouten, at the event.Â
Other types of nosh to expect at the Japan Food Matsuri event include sushi, wagyu, seafood from Japan, as well as sweet treats such as Japanese cream puffs and tarts. Â
