Initial D Cafe Opens Near Aljunied MRT With Japanese Snacks And Beer

Initial D cafe Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop in Singapore

Initial D fans, car nerds, and Eurobeat enthusiasts rejoice: the Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop has drifted into Singapore!

Located at 169 Sims Avenue, this Initial D-themed cafe pays great homage to the iconic anime and manga series. Its walls are lined with images of the franchise’s intense race scenes, Eurobeat plays on the speakers, and its storefront is reminiscent of the fictional Fujiwara Tofu Store. It’s enough to give one a sense of deja vu.

Fans of the franchise have already flocked to the place, often bringing their cars with them to photograph with the storefront. But if you do not have a car, fret not—you’ll be able to take pictures with the Toyota AE86 (however, it is the AE86 Levin, rather than main character Takumi Fujiwara’s AE86 Trueno).

As for the food, Fujiwara Tofu Concept Shop offers a range of Japanese eats.

The dish that directly references the franchise is the Fujiwara Tofu ($7.90+), a fried tofu dish with crispy edges and a spicy sauce on top that’s reminiscent of sweet Thai chilli.

While the Ika Karaage ($9.90+) doesn’t seem to be Initial D related, it’s one of the better snacks on the menu. Flavoured by what seems to be paprika powder, the squid’s crunchy exterior and chewy interior make it a joy to eat.

You can get drinks here too, including the refreshing Lychee Green Tea ($7.90+) and Asahi Beer (from $8.90+). But remember, don’t drink and drive!
