After satisfying the cravings of salted-egg-hungry locals with their Salted Egg Pineapple Tarts, IRVINS has another seasonal treat waiting with their Salted Egg Lava Mooncakes ($40 for eight pieces).Â
A major player in the salted egg fish skin game, IRVINS is set to apply their salted egg expertise to mooncakes by adding a special molten salted egg lava filling.
Just like their pineapple tarts, these mooncakes are best enjoyed after they’ve been heated up in the microwave for a couple of seconds. This makes the salted egg centre nice and gooey, giving every bite a rich and creamy taste.Â
Available in two flavours, you can opt for either a luscious silky yam or an earthy mung bean filling. These fillings are then coated with a layer of slightly bitter black charcoal skin, balancing out the sweet and salty flavours.
The mooncakes ought to make great gifts for the Mid-Autumn Festival too. Adopting influences from Japanese culture, the mooncakes are wrapped in an eye-catching limited-edition cloth—similar to how it’s done in Japan.Â
Adding on to the festivities is the special IRVINS branded lanterns featuring the brand’s signature mascot in a bright yellow fabric! To get your hands on it, you will have to spend a minimum of $55 in a single receipt at any of IRVINS Salted Egg’s cartel outlets.Â
However, don’t worry if you are unable to hid the minimum sum, as 1,500 of them will also be given out at the Night at Orchard event that’s happening along Orchard Boulevard, between Wisma Atria, and Ngee Ann City on 7 September 2019 from 7pm to 9pm.
If you’re looking to get a box of IRVINS’ Salted Egg Lava Mooncakes, take note that they are only available at the following IRVINS cartel outlets:
