If Japan is on your bucket list but you haven’t been able to visit, you’ll want to tune in to this. The Japan Rail Fair 2026 (TGRF 2026) is returning from 15 October to 17 October 2026, themed “Journey into Culture.”

Like last year’s edition, visitors can expect interactive booths filled with all things Japan, from travel companies and Japanese brands to, most importantly, regional food and drinks. Best of all, admission is free! If you love Japanese food, here’s what to anticipate at the fair.

Don’t miss the Hirosaki City apple pie and Hokedate City snack giveaway, happening on the opening day, 15 October at 11am and 3pm. We don’t have more details on this event, so you’ll have to show up to find out!

HINEMOS will probably be a familiar name if you’ve been to other Japanese fairs. The brand offers a range of premium Japanese alcohols such as Rokuji, a refreshing, citrusy sake. You’ll also get to sample dairy products including butter, yoghurt, and cheese from Hokkaido with Yotsuba Milk Products.

Head over to Access Tohoku for some regional snacks and try out the fresh Japanese pears at JR Fruits Park Sendai ARAHAMA. These are grown and harvested right before the event, so the fruits are at their juiciest and freshest.

Spice lovers can head over to the Izu Peninsula Geopark and Tourism Bureau & JR EAST Shonan-Izu Business Headquarters kiosk for some wasabi-flavoured snacks. The notoriously spicy paste is a specialty of the Izu Peninsula, and you can experience it in its different forms there.

Finally, try the famously poisonous Japanese pufferfish, fugu, in Yamaguchi Prefecture, best enjoyed with some sake. Not to worry: fugu is carefully prepared by professional chefs who are trained to remove the toxins. Fun fact: Yamaguchi is famous for this delicacy, earning the nickname “Japan’s pufferfish capital”.

To top it all off, the event is stacked with live performances, stamp trails, and even a train simulator to keep you entertained while you snack the day away.

Satisfy all your Japanese food cravings at these Japanese restaurants in Singapore. And if that gave you an urge to travel, this Malacca food itinerary shows you great places to go without breaking the bank.
