If you live, study, or work around the Bishan area, then you’ll know just what a hub Junction 8 is. The longstanding mall is great for a bit of shopping, running your errands, and—most importantly, to us—grabbing a delicious meal with your fam or friends. There’s a wealth of eateries in Junction 8 you can choose from, spanning different cuisines and vibes, so you’ll definitely find a food spot that suits both your cravings and the occasion.
FYI: for March, many of these eateries are running special promotions to celebrate the holidays! Five lucky diners will win a bundle of dining freebies from three eateries: Shake Shack, Watami Japanese Dining, and Taiwan Fullhouse.
All you need to do to win is like this post on Junction 8’s Facebook page, and tag three people you’d jio to dine with you. Read on to find out more about the prizes to be won, as we recommend some of our fave Junction 8 food spots to you.
For a casual dining experience that’s a notch up from your run-of-the-mill fast food joint, swing by Shake Shack (#01-51). The eatery is vibey, bright, and airy, with colourful and one-of-a-kind murals designed by local artist, Aeropalmics. There are also intimate seats and larger booths to accommodate groups of different sizes.
You can get all their signature Shake Shack menu items here, as well as their March exclusives. For the whole month of March, they’re bringing back their Chipotle Cheddar Menu. The range spotlights sweet, mildly spicy cherry peppers and rich cheddar cheese across all their products, from their juicy Chipotle Cheddar Chicken ($11.80) burger, to their Chipotle Cheddar Fries ($6.80). Quench your thirst with the special Dragon Fruit Pomegranate Lemonade ($4.60), laced with real bits of fruit.
Five lucky winners will stand to get a free Shake Shack Chipotle Cheddar Chicken Thigh Burger and Dragonfruit Pomegranate Lemonade.
Japanese food fans, you’ve got to swing by Watami Japanese Dining (#01-33). The family-friendly restaurant has a wide variety of Japanese dishes, from sukiyaki hotpot to sushi. Watami members also get to enjoy monthly specials which you can get for free when you dine and spend a minimum of $40.
If you aren’t a member yet, you can sign up now for $30 and enjoy a range of perks throughout the year, including 10% regular discounts, 20% birthday month discounts, two $15 signup vouchers and more! By the way, Junction 8 is also giving away one-year memberships to five lucky winners, as part of their March giveaway!
Another Japanese restaurant in Junction 8 to check out is Yakiniku Like (#01-40), a popular and affordable yakiniku spot. From 14 March to 28 April, the brand is holding a giveaway to celebrate their fourth anniversary. Spend a minimum of $40 per receipt on their yakiniku sets, and receive a scratch-and-win card, where, if you’re lucky, you might just win a pair of air tickets to Tokyo.
They’ve got a range of curated sets you can order to grill at your table, but our pick has to be the Juku Wagyu Set ($39.80). The price is very wallet-friendly for the amount of tender Wagyu you get. Each set also comes with rice, soup, and your choice of side.
Rounding out the Japanese eats we love in Junction 8 is Milan Shokudo (#02-34), an affordable Japanese-Italian fusion restaurant. It’s a great spot to dine at if you’re on a budget, especially if you’re a student. Their menu stars a selection of pasta, pizza, and other fusion bites, largely around $10 each.
From now till 15 April, they also have a special menu of five different sides, from Onion Rings ($6.90) to Cheesy Mentai Cream Fries ($6.90). The baked fries are our pick—there’s a generous amount of gooey and creamy cheese, topped with mentaiko roe that offers pops of savouriness with each bite.
Folks missing their last Taiwanese holiday can swing by Taiwan Fullhouse (#02-21) to get their food fix. Their comprehensive menu has street food options aplenty, with ingredients sourced from Taiwan. P.S.: the owners are Taiwanese too, so you know you’re getting the legit stuff!
As part of the Junction 8 giveaway, five lucky winners stand to get one free Taiwanese Fullhouse Set Menu ($11.90++). The set comes with their signature Minced Meat Rice ($8.90++), AKA lu rou fan, starring bits of melt-in-your-mouth braised pork belly, as well as a refreshing Winter Melon Tea ($3++).
Finally, those looking for a chill spot to enjoy lunch can head to GRUB (#01-38), a bistro with Western fusion mains, and a very wallet-friendly set lunch. Priced at $22++, the three-course set lunch is available from 11am to 4pm on Monday to Friday, except public holidays.
Pick from a line-up of Grub’s signature dishes to enjoy with your set, including their delicious Har Cheong Kai Chicken & Waffles, where fried prawn paste chicken tops buttermilk waffles, served alongside maple syrup and sambal mayo.
Pair that with a side of comforting Truffle Mushroom Soup, and end off the meal on a sweet high with the Salted Caramel Chocolate Tart, where indulgent, rich chocolate is balanced by notes of salted caramel. There’s also the surprise of chocolate popping candy, for a dash of fun!
We hope we’ve inspired you to make Junction 8 the spot for your meals in March. Don’t forget to join their giveaway via the link below for free F&B goodies.
