As we continue our fight against COVID-19, KFC is bringing us good vibes with the return of their popular Meltz. The tortilla-based dish was a fav’ when it graced menus in the early ‘00s and now, it’s back in the form of the Chipotle Meltz.
This variant features a new smoky chipotle mayonnaise, as well as familiar favourites such as Original Recipe chicken fillet, tomatoes, shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese, and BBQ nachos, all enveloped in a toasted tortilla wrap. The classic KFC Meltz made a comeback here, but in an upgraded form.
Just like most KFC menu items, the Chipotle Meltz is available a la carte ($5.95) and in various meal options. As a heavy eater who needs the energy to survive ‘Work From Home’, I knew I had to get the Chipotle Meltz Box ($9.95).
This monster of a meal pairs the wrap with a piece of chicken, regular fries and whipped potato, and a cup of Pepsi Black—just enough carbs and protein to get me through the day.
On the taste front, the dish did justice to its ‘Chipotle’ moniker with a burst of earthy and smoky flavours coming from the various ingredients. The juicy chicken chunks were plentiful, and had a slightly salty finish which paired beautifully with the creamy and peppery chipotle mayo.
The BBQ nachos bolstered the Meltz’s savoury profile with their BBQ flavouring, and provided crunchiness for a variance of texture.
For those with a smaller appetite than me but still wanna feel full, opt for the Chipotle Meltz Meal ($7.95) which comes with the Meltz, medium fries, and a cup of Pepsi Black.
If your family member wants to get in on the action, buy the Chipotle Meltz Buddy Meal ($18.95) for a bounty comprising the Meltz, three pieces of chicken and Hot & Crispy Tenders each, two regular servings of Whipped Potato, and two cups of Pepsi Black.
These delectable items can be bought for takeaway at all KFC outlets, except for the ones at Cathay Cineleisure, Jewel Changi Airport, KidZania, Singapore Polytechnic, Nanyang Technology University, Takashimaya, and Singapore Zoo. For those committed to never leaving the house during this Circuit Breaker period, you can also get the Chipotle Meltz via KFC’s app where you can even request for contactless delivery!
The following weeks may be a trying time for us, so let’s take in positive energy whenever we can!
