6 New Food Places At KINEX, Including Mala Grilled Fish And Japanese Omakase

New eateries at KINEX

If you are looking to dine in the East, check out KINEX, a shopping mall that’s situated just minutes by foot from Paya Lebar MRT Station. KINEX already houses hidden gems such as 800° Woodfired Kitchen, Rotiboy and more. Now, new to the mall, are six new eateries that can’t be found anywhere else in Singapore! So, if you’re ever in the vicinity, consider hopping into KINEX and trying out one of these places.

What’s more, you can redeem Christmas gifts and Festive Workshop passes when you spend at KINEX. These promotions are available from now to 26 December 2021, and are subject to availability.

1. Joyfulness Dining

Joyfulness Dining is one of the new openings in KINEX. Situated at Level Two, Joyfulness Dining sports a grand, banquet-style interior, with an extensive menu that includes dim sum, roasted Peking duck, bento sets, and many more.

Head down from 10am to 4pm to catch Joyfulness Dining’s dim sum menu. We recommend the Fresh Prawn Dumplings ($5.80++ for three), which are plump and succulent, or the Steamed Custard Bun w/ Salted Egg ($4.80++ for three), packed with a creamy and savoury custard filling.

Alternatively, check out their promotional item—Deep-Fried German Pig Trotter ($38++)—which comes with two adorable, rabbit-shaped coconut jellies (U.P. $3.80 for two)

Visit the restaurant this festive season and check out their full list of promotions!

Unit number: #02-38
Opening hours: Mon-Fri 10am to 10pm, Sat-Sun 8am to 10pm

2. Osomatsu Japanese Kitchen & Bar

Run by the same group as Joyfulness Dining, Osomatsu Japanese Kitchen & Bar is a classy Japanese restaurant that serves unique dishes such as Charcoal Chicken ($16++), Uni Ikura Tart ($22++) and more.

Start off your meal with the Nama Kaki ($12++ per piece), an oyster from Hokkaido, served with hot pepper and ponzu dressing. Then, we recommend going for the signature Pork Katsu Sando ($24++) that comes with four, thick-cut chunks of pork. It’s sweet, savoury, and buttery, all in one bite. For a more substantial meal, consider the Yaki Udon ($24++), stir-fried udon with generous amounts of seafood, cabbage and pork belly.

Besides the a la carte menu, they also have an omakase option ($160++ per person), which includes sashimi and A4 Wagyu beef!

To celebrate their new opening, Osomatsu Japanese Kitchen & Bar is giving out free Truffle Edamame (U.P. $8++) with any purchase when you dine in.

Unit number: #02-21
Opening hours: Daily 11:30am to 2:30pm (last order at 2pm), 5:30pm to 10:30pm (last order at 9pm)

3. Chong Qing Premium Grilled Fish

Now that the new, relaxed dining restrictions allow five vaccinated individuals to dine together, consider heading down to Chong Qing Premium Grilled Fish with your friends and family and enjoy their Christmas promotion. The deal features two platter sets—Set A ($188++) which includes a Baby Abalone Platter, and Set B ($288++) which comes with a Live Lobster Platter

If you’re going for Set A, it comes with a variety of seafood items, including baby lobsters, prawns, mussels, scallops, clams, baby octopi, and squids, all doused in a spicy and numbing sauce. This set can easily feed up to five people!

Each set also comes with the Spicy Chicken ($18.80++) and a two-litre Blanc Tower ($78++) on the side to wash the spice down. Do take note that this promotion will end on 7 January 2022, so visit Chong Qing Premium Grilled Fish soon!

4. Sizzle Whizzle

Sizzle Whizzle, opened by the same people behind Daun Bistro, is an eatery that offers a wide range of authentic Indonesian dishes. Instead of XXL meat platters and a fancy dining interior, Sizzle Whizzle features individual rice or noodle bowls, finger food, and even a kids’ menu, all of which are only available for takeaway.

The Jumbo Meatball with Quail Egg & Small Beefballs ($12) and the Soto Ayam Kuning ($8.90) are two comforting noodle dishes that are a must-order when you visit. Otherwise, go for the fragrant Beef Rendang Bowl ($8.90), or the Signature Fried Chicken Indomie Goreng Bowl ($9.90) for something heavier and more indulgent.

Don’t forget to opt for their house-made chilli on the side for an extra kick. They have three types available: Sambal Bawang, Sambal Teri, and Sambal Merah, all of which are available with a top-up of $0.80.

Unit number: #B1-31
Opening hours: Daily 11am to 8pm

5. Chu Yi Jia

If you are looking for a Chinese meal that’s wallet-friendly, visit Chu Yi Jia. Located at Basement One, Chu Yi Jia serves up a selection of homely and hearty zi char-style dishes.

For first-timers, try the Crayfish Prawn Hor Fun ($12.90) and CYJ Superior Soup ($14.90). The former has been widely praised for its rich wok hei fragrance and succulent crayfish. The latter, on the other hand, is a milder, comforting bowl of soup. You can choose to pair the soup with any of the following carbs: hor fun, bee hoon, mee kia, or rice. To complete your meal, opt for the Golden Seafood Beancurd ($8) on the side.

Consider their four-course meal promotion ($39.90) which also includes the CYJ Superior Soup and Golden Seafood Beancurd, if you are dining in with a partner. On top of these items, the meal also comprises their crowd favourite Pork Chops King (U.P. $12.00), French Beans with Dried Shrimp (U.P.$10), and two bowls of rice.

Unit number: #B1-K22
Opening hours: Mon-Fri 11am to 9pm, Sat-Sun 10am to 9pm

6. CocoAndNut

CocoAndNut is a newly opened stall specialising in coconut shakes with unique local flavours such as black glutinous rice and orh nee. Here, the beverages are categorised into four different series: Signature, Fruit Series, Nuts Bout You, and Crunchies. All drinks, except for the 100% Pure Coco Juice ($5.50), come in two sizes—500ml and 700ml—and have customisable sugar levels.

So if you feel spoiled for choice, we recommend trying the OG Shake w Black Glutinous Rice ($5.80/$6.80). It comes with a delicious coconut shake and a QQ black glutinous rice topping. Otherwise, consider the OG Shake w Avocado ($5.80/$6.80) or the OG Shake w Melon ($5.80/$6.80) for something fruity and refreshing.
