Tiong Bahru Plaza’s Kopitiam Reopens With Michelin-Approved Chee Cheong Fun And Scissors Cut Curry Rice

Kopitiam @ Tiong Bahru Plaza reopens with new stalls

When Kopitiam @ Tiong Bahru Plaza was shuttered for the past six months, Tiong Bahru residents had one less place to get an affordable meal in the area. Thankfully, the food court has finally completed its renovations, reopening with a brand new look and some exciting stalls to check out.

There’s plenty of thought put into the food court’s refreshed aesthetic. Aside from the more contemporary look, the interiors incorporate visual hallmarks of the Tiong Bahru neighbourhood, such as the red brick architecture and bird cages of Tiong Bahru Bird Corner.

One of the must-try stalls at Kopitiam @ Tiong Bahru Plaza is Pin Wei Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun, a Michelin-approved stall. A plate of chee cheong fun here, which starts from $3.50, promises silky-smooth rice rolls that are complemented with sweet soya sauce and piquant sambal belacan.

Another stall worth checking out is Lau Di Fang Scissors Cut Curry Rice. Offering a wide range of ingredients that are accompanied by aromatic curry and rice, this lunch staple will likely satisfy those looking for a hearty meal.

For nostalgic wonton noodles, drop by Kallang Airport Wanton Mee. Based on a 60-year-old recipe, the Signature Wanton Noodle ($5.80) features QQ noodles tossed in a flavourful chilli sauce, tender char siew, and most importantly, juicy wonton. If you prefer your noodles Malaysian-style, opt for the Dark Sauce Wanton Noodle ($5.80).

The food court has a host of other interesting stalls to try, including Cuo Cuo You Yu, Kopitiam’s own bak chor mee brand, affordable Korean food stall Han Ssik Dang Korean, and the ever-popular Pepper Kitchen. One isn’t short of options at Kopitiam @ Tiong Bahru Plaza.
