Lavender might be a little off-town area, but its underrated and hipster flair has got me smitten. From fragrant beef noodles to decadent pastries, we have sussed out old favourites and new finds for a list of the best Lavender food located in the close vicinity of the MRT station.

There’s nothing more comforting than a warm loaf of fluffy stuffed bread. Thai Baang is the first Thai bread bakery in Singapore, selling close to 30 flavours. Plagued with an interminable queue, best sellers include Banana Chocolate Bread ($2.40) and Tomyum Chicken Bread ($2.40). They also sell sponge cakes and other savoury snacks.

Entering Lang Nuong is like reliving my trip to Vietnam: a satisfying, nostalgic experience on a budget. With stools and metal tables resembling those on the streets of Vietnam, enjoy a Bo Kho Banh Mi ($6.90+) or a huge BBQ Platter for two ($39.90+). Grilled over charcoal in an old-fashioned clay stove, you would get your meat smoky and deliciously charred.

One of my colleagues swears by 88 Hong Kong Roast Meat Specialist. Their Char Siew and Roast Meat Rice ($6.50) is a duo meat combo that can’t go wrong as your default order. The char siew is tender, with a sweet and savoury flavour at every bite. The roast pork has a crackling which doesn’t soften even after leaving it out for a while. If, like me, you love your meat fatty, make sure to give them a try.
Both 88 Hong Kong Roast Meat Specialist outlets are within walking distance of Lavender MRT Station.

You no longer need to fly to Korea for raw marinated crab—you can try it right here at Pohang Seafood and Butchery. The Raw Marinated Crab is priced at $58++, which feeds about three people. They also have a set meal that you can enjoy for $18++ during lunchtime. The set comes with salmon sashimi, rice, and various types of banchan. Pair this with the raw marinated crab, and you get a filling, delicious meal.
Pohang Seafood & Butchery also has an extensive menu of other Korean dishes spanning stews and fresh sashimi. Even better, the restaurant is located within a 10-minute walk away from the train station.

Tian Yi Desserts is a stall at North Bridge Market & Food Centre, where patrons can enjoy traditional Chinese desserts at affordable prices. All their desserts are kept under $2, except for their Bo Bo Cha which is priced at $2.30.
They offer a unique blend of both red bean and green bean in their Mixed Red and Green Bean Soup ($2), which is not commonly found in hawker stalls these days. For easy access, North Bridge Market & Food Centre is a six-minute walk away from the train station.

Yan Chuan Roasters is famous for their Peking Duck, which is priced at just $8.90. Compared to the prices at other eateries specialising in peking duck, this is considered a steal. The set comes with a quarter of a peking duck, a canned soft drink, and a choice of two soft buns or rice.
Here’s another element that makes them unique: their peking duck comes with two pieces of mantou instead of the usual thin pancakes. The eatery also offers other meat options such as roasted pork, char siew, and roasted chicken. For those interested, Yan Chuan Roasters is an eight-minute walk from the train station.

La Levain is a genius when it comes to creating unique twists to croissants. They house all sorts of interesting creations such as the viral onigiri croissants, which come in a variety of sweet and savoury flavours.
They also have the popular Crookie Croissants ($6.80): the delightful lovechild of cookies and croissants. Recently, they also launched their Smashed Croissants, which come in three speciality flavours: Raspberry, Speculoos, and Nutella. Each is priced at $7.20!
This bakery slash cafe also has dine-in spaces, so you get to enjoy a good cup of coffee alongside your bakes. FYI, La Levain can be found within an 11-minute walking distance from the train station.

As its name suggests, Cafe Lilac by Whisking Bakes is full of desserts in a pretty shade of lilac, which is also the colour of taro. If you’re a fan of orh nee, you will be surprised at the range of taro-infused treats available here such as the Taro Choux ($8).
You’d be pleasantly surprised to find savoury offerings that are all relatively wallet-friendly as well, such as the Taro Pork Floss Sando ($5.50). Pair your munchies with stunning drinks that sport hues of purple. Our favourite was the Taro Einspanner ($6.50), a combination of espresso and yam foam. Cafe Lilac by Whisking Bakes is a 10-minute walk away from the train station.

The Beef House serves Hakka cuisine in the quaint vicinity of Syed Alwi Road, which is 11-minutes away by foot from the train station. Their noodle dishes come in variations such as the Beef Ball Bee Hoon Soup, Slice Beef Bee Hoon Soup, and Slice Beef Kway Teow Dry. Patrons especially love their broth, which is often described as clean yet savoury. A bowl of noodles costs $5 to $6 depending on the portion you opt for. The handmade meatballs are definitely the stall’s signature, earning high praise from patrons for being one of the best in Singapore.

Blanco Court Beef Noodles have been around since 1979, from when it first started as a stall in the defunct Blanco Court hawker centre. As compared to the previous recommendation, the flavour profile of the broth here is slightly different: darker, richer, and packed with spices and aromatics.
Out of the lot, we recommend getting their Superior Beef Noodles ($11.90) which comes with tendons, tripe, braised beef, and beef balls. Blanco Court Beef Noodles can be found at Aperia Mall, which is in the close vicinity of Lavender MRT station.

Good Gai is a kiosk at Aperia Mall that’s run by a Thai native selling legit Thai fried chicken. Other than the Signature Thai Fried Chicken, they also have the Signature Hatyai Chicken which has a stronger flavour profile due to the fish sauce marinade, coriander, and cumin.
You can pick between two cuts to your liking: the Cutlet for $6.90 and Winglets which are priced at five for $6.90. There are also various house-made chilli dips that add another layer of flavour to the fried chicken. If you are a fried chicken skin enthusiast, you can also find that here for $5.

Tolido’s Espresso Nook is a Melbourne-inspired cafe for good brunch and coffee. Their most notable dish is their fragrant Pandan Pancakes ($15) as talked about in many of the online reviews. It comes with two pancakes, topped with vanilla ice cream, and drizzled with sweet gula melaka syrup.
They also have an all-day breakfast with the likes of Shakshouka Eggs ($21) and Rosti with Cheesy Sausage ($20). Tolido’s Espresso Nook is a short seven-minute walk from the train station.
