Le Matin Patisserie: Famous Pastry Chef Opens Bakery In Outram Park With Kouign Amann, Almond Croissants And More

Le Matin Patisserie in Raeburn Park

Trying to get my hands on one of Le Matin Patisserie‘s bake boxes during the Circuit Breaker was a borderline act of war. Camping by the computer, checking the time, and trying to process my order at a very precise moment—all in the name securing croissants and other viennoiseries crafted by Mohamed Al-Matin, a pastry chef minted by god-tier restaurants such as Noma, and the now-defunct Restaurant Andre. While the brand used to function entirely online, Le Matin Patisserie has recently opened a walk-in test kitchen in Outram Park, so you can beat the online frenzy and still get their bakes.

Le Matin Patisserie operates by selling seasonal flavours, in line with their regular bake box drops online. You never know if there’s going to be a new and interesting pastry you can get your hands on when you arrive, but you can bank on nabbing some of their classics.

These include the Kouign Amann ($7), their classic Croissant ($4), their Canele ($5), as well as the Pistachio Escargot ($7).

The last item is one of the most popular amongst Le Matin fans, where Middle Eastern flavours of pistachio and rose meet the classic French pastry swirl.

Tarts and eclairs also make an appearance on occasion.

Also available on site is freshly-brewed coffee, as well as cold brew, from $3.

The test kitchen is in Raeburn Park, a short bus ride away from Outram Park MRT Station. Only open from Wednesday to Sunday, fans ought to head down by early afternoon, as items do sell out quite fast.
