This Floating Cafe And Bar In Batam Has Steak Under $10 And More

Level Up Coffee is a floating cafe and bar in Batam

One of Batam’s latest and trendiest hangout spots is Level Up Coffee And Floating Bar, a super IG-worthy cafe that transforms into a bar each evening. Located in the Bengkong Laut Golden City area, they’re the only floating cafe on the Riau island, with live music performances at night!

Their location, nestled within a bay at the northernmost tip of Batam, gives this floating bar a stunning view of the sunset each evening—provided the weather is on your side. Access the floating bar via a wooden bridge linking the platform to their other seating areas on land, should you prefer to have your feet on solid ground.

The most expensive item on the menu is Sirloin Steak (IDR 98,000, ~S$9.30), which comes with a rich mushroom gravy, crinkle-cut fries, and corn on the cob.

We were surprised by how tender the sirloin was, complemented with the flavourful mushroom gravy. Similarly priced to the beef is their Salmon Steak, though you could also get a smaller serving of salmon with Nasi Goreng Salmon (IDR 50,000, ~S$4.80).

Starring a lightly spicy, Indonesian-style fried rice that we found aromatic and smoky with wok hei, this affordable dish also comes with keropok, AKA prawn crackers, and an over-easy egg.

If you’re looking for finger food to go alongside your beer, order the Snack Platter (IDR 45,000, ~S$4.30), for deep-fried drummettes, fish nuggets, sausages, and crinkle-cut fries.

Level Up Coffee And Floating Bar has been highly popular amongst the locals for their picturesque set-up and affordable fare. Before you head here to wind down, check out our list of where to eat in Batam. For interesting hawker fare in Batam, consider Abun Cha Kue, which serves a dish that’s both char kway teow and chai tow kway in one!
