I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard that Australian brewery Little Creatures is opening a gastrobar in Singapore. Having been to their magnificent brewery in Fremantle – it is my favourite spot in Perth, by the way – I knew this craft beer brand does more than just good beer; their food is stellar too. What’s more, everything is in nett prices! You don’t need to dish out GST or service charge on top of the price indicated on the menu.
And prove me right they did, when I tried their food during their soft launch. Instead of serving your usual bar grub, you will find a selection of hearty eats. A dish that surprised me was their Fried Man Tou ($19). The chilli crab sauce that came with it really packed some heat and had chunks of crab flesh in it. If you love cheese, you must get their Tomato Burrata ($22), where the fresh buffalo milk cheese was super creamy.
Beer on tap is of course a must at Little Creatures, and a 280ml glass starts at $12, while a 430ml glass costs between $14 and $17. A favourite among punters was the Little Creatures Rogers’ ($12 for 280ml, $15 for 430ml), with its refreshing, full-flavoured body that went down smoothly.
Their doors are set to open on 30May 2018, although they still haven’t received the license to brew their own beers in-house. But once they do get it, you can expect a selection of beers specially brewed for Singapore! So mark the date down on your calendars and start jioing your drinking kakis!
