This Beauty World Hawker Stall Has Mentaiko Beef And Cheesy Chicken Don From $5.50

Mentai Sens at Beauty World has cheap Japanese don

The last time I visited Beauty World Shopping CentreĀ was to try the old-school bakes at Syiok. The fourth-floor food centre has seen some changes since then, and one stall that has popped up on our radar isĀ Mentai Sens, where the Japanese rice bowls start from just $5.50!

AnĀ Ebi Tama Don, or tempura prawn on egg and rice, at Mentai Sens is priced at just $5.50, and comes with three pieces of the seafood.

For a more filling meal, consider adding on moreĀ Ebi Fry, priced at $1.20 a piece. Otherwise, you have options including Potato Croquette ($1.60) andĀ Butter Corn ($0.50).

Instead of rice and egg, you could go instead forĀ Ebi Fri Yaki Udon ($6), where the thick Japanese noodles are stir-fried in savoury, slightly tangy yakisoba sauce.

One of their signature dishes isĀ Cheese Toriniku Don ($6.50), topped with melty cheese and drizzled with a nacho cheese sauce.

For $6.50, you do get quite a generous serving of rice, house-marinated chicken, and cheese.

If youā€™ve got 40 cents extra to spare, give their Mentaiko Gyuniku Don ($6.90) a try.

This don is topped with thin slices of beef drenched in a sweet gravy, then finished with mentaiko sauce thatā€™s torched to serve.

On the side, getĀ Mixed Flavours Tamago ($3.80), which comes with three slabs of tamagoyaki, each topped with cheese, salted egg, or their signature mentaiko sauce thatā€™s aburi-ed. You could also get just Signature Mentaiko Tamago ($3.50), or any one piece atĀ $1.30 each.

For more Japanese-style food, check out Taiwanese chain Onigiri Planet at Hillion Mall! Otherwise, Inochi at Shaw Plaza has wallet-friendly chirashi bowls.
