This Hidden Hawker Bakery Has Fresh Muffins And Egg Tarts Under $2.50

Muffin Homme has affordable bakes at Bukit Canberra Hawker Centre

Traditional bakeries never seem to lose their appeal in Singapore as they carry a nostalgic, homemade charm that new ventures seem to lack these days. Muffin Homme at Bukit Canberra Hawker Centre which sells all their bakes under $2.50, is no exception.

Muffin Homme’s speciality is their muffins, which are said to be similar to the quality of high-end bakeries. Their wide range of flavours include Cranberry Cream Cheese ($2.30), Matcha White Chocolate Chip ($2.30), Oreo ($2.30), Double Chocolate ($2.30), Blueberry Streusel ($2.30), and Apple Crumble ($2.30). You’re recommended to get a box of six ($12.50) to try as many different flavours as possible.

A hot pick among returning patrons is the Matcha White Chocolate Chip, boasting a strong earthy flavour that balances out the sweetness of the white chocolate. 

Other must-tries include the Cranberry Cream Cheese, a heavenly combination of sweet and savoury, and their best-selling Apple Crumble, which stars chunky apple bits that give the muffin a delightful tartness.

Many customers rave that the muffins are extremely buttery and rich in flavour with just the right sweetness. Texture-wise, the muffins are incredibly moist, fluffy, and soft within.

Muffins aside, you’re in for a treat if you love egg tarts! You will find that their Original Egg Tart ($2.10) features an egg custard that is ultra silky-smooth and a tart shell that is extra crispy!

It also comes in lesser-seen flavour variations such as the Chocolate Egg Tart ($2.10) and Brown Sugar Mochi Egg Tart (price TBD). 

Muffin Homme is located at Bukit Canberra Hawker Centre, which is seven minutes away by foot from Sembawang MRT Station.
