My Cosy Corner: Popular Old-School Stall With DIY Kueh Pie Tee And Popiah In Bukit Timah

My Cosy Corner has popiah and DIY kueh pie tee in Bukit Timah

Tucked away at Coronation Shopping Plaza in Bukit Timah, My Cosy Corner is an old-school stall that sells a variety of dishes from Peranakan dishes to Japanese bento sets. This no-frills eatery is a three-minute drive or 10-minute walk from Botanic Gardens MRT Station.

Opened in 1998, you’ll find that My Cosy Corner has an old-school ambience even before setting foot in the stall. You’ll be greeted with a conspicuous signboard in yellow, followed by a huge menu with more than 30 items. Then there are plastic stools for you to sit on if you dine in! My Cosy Corner has a small space which gives it a cosy vibe—after all, it’s named the Cosy Corner.

This stall has been around for almost 30 years, which is a good litmus test of how popular they are. Regular customers love their Popiah ($2.80) and DIY Kueh Pie Tee ($5.80).

The ingredients for the popiah come in substantial portions, including eggs, braised turnips, and carrots. This medley of ingredients gives the popiah a lovely balance of sweet and salty flavours especially when dipped in the sweet sauce. The popiah also has crispy garlic bits to spice up the overall flavour.

Their Kueh Pie Tee comes in six pieces featuring egg, a generous portion of braised turnips and carrots, coriander, and sambal chilli. Interestingly, the kueh pie tee is meant to be a DIY dish, which means you can choose which ingredients to include. But no matter the ingredients, this snack always satisfies customers. The cup is not only crispy but also savoury and flavourful!

If you can’t decide what to eat, I recommend trying these two dishes as they are affordable and delicious.

My Cosy Corner also serves other local dishes such as Laksa ($6), Mee Rebus ($6), and Mee Siam ($6) which are also known to be crowd favourites. Among these, what stands out to me most is their laksa as it’s said to have the perfect balance of sweet-savoury flavours. The laksa soup is made with a good mix of spices, herbs, and coconut milk, making it creamy and fragrant.

Besides tasty Peranakan food, the stall also sells hearty Japanese bento. Their Japanese bento is also served in generous portions for their wallet-friendly price. Some popular sets include the Chicken Teriyaki ($11.50).

I recommend heading down for breakfast or brunch as they open until 6pm most days. They also have a takeaway option for those on the go.
