McDonald’s Nasi Lemak Burger To Return With New Bandung Frappe On 27 July

McDonald’s Nasi Lemak Burger is back

Recently, we attended McDonald’s unveiling of a locally-inspired burger at Lorong Kampung Buangkok, the last remaining kampong in Singapore. It’s quite the theatrical way to launch a burger, but long story short, the fast food giant announced the return of their Nasi Lemak Burger at the event. It will be available at all McDonald’s outlets from 27 July 2023.

McDonald’s shook Singapore’s fast food scene back in 2017 when they introduced the locally inspired burger. The concoction compacts all the key components of the iconic dish into a handheld treat.

You can now get it at $8.30 as an a la carte item, or from $9.30 as an Extra Value Meal. You get a crispy and juicy fried chicken patty that’s marinated in a blend of spices, topped with a fried egg, caramelised onions for sweetness, crunchy cucumber slices, and a slathering of sambal with a spicy kick. As compared to the previous rendition, the sambal in this version is more savoury than sweet.

After trying the burger, we can see how this is reminiscent of the local dish—there’s a faint coconutty fragrance from the deep-fried chicken, and the spicy sambal rounds up the experience really well. The sambal tasted spicier than before, so make sure you have a drink in hand!

Enjoy your meal with a Bandung Frappe, priced at $4.75 for a small cup and $4.95 for a medium. This ice-blended, rose syrup-infused beverage also comes drizzled with chocolate sauce for a rich and creamy treat—great for washing down the hearty nasi lemak burger.

You can also get Potato Wedges (from $4.50) on the side if you’re still feeling peckish!

To round up your meal, try the new Cocoa-Nut Pie ($1.70) from McDonald’s, comprising a creamy coconut-spiked centre held by a crispy chocolate crust.

There’s a chance that history repeats itself, causing the burgs to sell out ASAP, so hurry down soon before they run out!

In other McDonald’s news, the Sweet BBQ McSpicy (from $8.10) is still up for grabs. This limited-time-only burger jazzes up the classic McSpicy with sweet and savoury flavours!

The latest McSpicy offering features the traditional fiery chicken cutlet, enhanced with crunchy chicken bacon strips and generously drizzled with a delightful sweet BBQ sauce. While we found the sauce quantity slightly wanting for an intensified smoky flavour, you may consider making a special request for more sauce.
