Taking over the space formerly occupied by Ash & Elm is LUCE, a new Italian bistro helmed by Chef de Cuisine Davide Giacomelli. Chef Davide has spent 13 years working at numerous Michelin-starred establishments in Paris and Moncao before taking on his new post at InterContinental Singapore. The authentic, seasonal menu he has created for LUCE spotlights seasonal ingredients, sourcing from regional producers where possible.
Start off your meal with the Bruschetta ($19++), a classic Italian appetiser, served here with milky buffalo mozzarella, a bright tomato concasse, and hearty toast rubbed with grated garlic. For your entree, pick either a risotto, prepared true-blue Italian-style, or fresh house-made pasta. We recommend the Acquerello Gorgonzola ($38++). Carnaroli, rather than aborio, rice is used, resulting in an extra-creamy risotto. Generous amounts of gorgonzola are stirred in, but you get none of the blue cheese funk thanks to the finishing dash of citrus powder. For dessert, treat yourself to the LUCE-misu ($18++), a deconstructed tiramisu with layers of texture.
The spacious, open eatery gets a lot of natural light during the day. Choose between intimate booth seats and smaller tables to dine at, depending on the size of your group. LUCE’s lunch sets are also affordable for their quality, priced at $34++ for a main with either a starter or dessert, and $40++ for a three-course feast. Wine pairings are available for an additional fee, with vino here sourced naturally from a variety of Italian producers.

Although SENSHI Sushi and Grill has been at Dorsett Singapore for slightly over a year, the Japanese buffet restaurant is still constantly revamping its menu and has recently unveiled its revamped spring selections. Look forward to the Pork Jowl in the Lunch A La Carte Buffet ($45++ per person), which sees Kurobuta pork sous vide for more than 12 hours.
If you’re visiting during the dinner service, which is priced at $55++ per person, you’ll get to enjoy an upgraded selection of dishes. This includes Mekajiki sashimi, AKA swordfish sashimi, as well as Pork and Beef Shabu Shabu for sharing.

Nobu is one of the most recognisable names in the mod-Japanese restaurant space. The restaurant was founded in 1987 by chef Nobu Matsuhisa, when he moved to Los Angeles and has boomed into a global phenomenon, with 50 outlets across the world. Now, Nobu has finally made its way to Singapore, with its official opening on 1 June, at the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore. The new restaurant will be housed amidst a “sculpted open-air Japanese garden and bar”, so expect panoramic views to go with your meal.

Prices have yet to be confirmed, but one can expect Nobu’s signatures to grace the menu in Singapore too. These include their Black Cod Miso, Yellowtail Jalapeño, and Nobu Crispy Rice. The restaurant will also have an omakase private dining experience, dubbed the Chef’s Table, as well as a teppanyaki dinner.

Those looking for an affordable buffet experience can head down to Buffet Paradise for a two-in-one, all-you-can-eat feast. The Tai Seng eatery has launched a BBQ and steamboat buffet with a menu that includes over 40 different menu items. The eatery, located in the Wonderfull food court of the Sakae Building, has both indoor and outdoor seating as well.
Diners pay $29.90 per person for dinner from Monday to Thursday, or $32.90 from Friday to Sunday, and on public holidays. If you’re bringing kids along, children dine for $19.90 each. Start off the meal with their welcome platter, which comes with a selection of marinated meats, clams, fish backs, fish slices, seafood, and vegetables. Angie’s Oyster Bar & Grill is one of the OG bistros in Singapore for freshly shucked oysters and sustainable seafood. They’ve recently reopened at Tiong Bahru, with an all-new menu starring air-flown oysters, seasonal grilled lobster, sustainably sourced seafood, and a comprehensive booze selection to pair with. Ben Fatto 95 has made waves in the private dining space over the past couple of years, thanks to founding chef Lee Yum Hwa’s artful handmade pasta dishes. If you’ve never managed to snag a seat at his private dining outfit, don’t fret, as Chef Lee and The Cicheti Group have collaborated to open a permanent, brick-and-mortar restaurant starring the former’s creations in Joo Chiat. Named Forma, this new Italian restaurant has become the to-dine destination of late, with reservations full six services a week thus far.
The simple, almost rustic menu spotlights the spectrum of pasta found in lesser-known regions of Italy. The Tortellini in Brodo ($34++), for example, hails from the Emilia-Romagna region, and sees handmade tortellini parcels served in a clear, slow-cooked chicken broth. The Linguine al Limone ($29++) is another popular option to order. The Southern Italian classic features a bright lemon sauce prepared with Amalfi lemons and DOP provolone. Bronze-cut linguine is then perfectly coated with the zesty sauce, to serve.

Chef Nancy Silverton’s Osteria Mozza is getting a second lease of life by reopening at Hilton Singapore, after a former stint at Marina Bay Sands that ceased in 2018. The Hilton Osteria Mozza officially opened on 31 May, with Silverton’s distinct Californian-Italian menu ready to wow guests.
Expect fresh pasta, pizzas prepared in a wood-fired oven, and a selection of meats and seafood to round off the savouries at this new restaurant. Osteria Mozza’s famed Mozzarella Bar will also return here, with five types of fresh cheeses and cured meats to kickstart one’s meal.

Affordable unagi specialist Una Una has opened its third outlet in VivoCity following its Suntec City and Bugis outfits. They’re best known for their unagi hitsumabushi—an unagi don bowl enjoyed four ways—with prices starting from just $12.80++.
The izakaya-style eatery will have a wide variety of charcoal-grilled unagi dishes, all prepared with premium quality eels. At this new restaurant, look forward to creations including the Unagi Ikura Don ($32.80++), an outlet-exclusive dish loaded with salmon roe, tamago, cucumber, and grilled unagi pieces. The Unagi Hokkaido Pork Histumabushi ($22.80++) is also another VivoCity-only special, where unagi is served with charcoal-grilled pork slices that melt in the mouth.

DJ Duo Muttons first moved into F&B with their mod-Asian restaurant Fook Kin. Since then, they have decided to deep dive into casual dining with Itchy Bun, their new Japanese eatery along Prinsep Street. Prices here are nett, making Itchy Bun a wallet-friendly dining option if you’re in town.
The menu stars a wide range of bites, from rice bowls to Japanese-influenced gua bao, and deep-fried appetisers. We recommend the Kaeru Noashi Karaage ($13.80), a frog leg karaage dish served with wasabi mayo dip, and fried ginger slivers—think a sweeter, more tender take on chicken wings. They also have Unagi Don priced at just $10.80, topped with chargrilled unagi pieces glazed in tare, and an onsen egg.

Fans of the now-defunct One Prawn Noodle at Golden Mile Food Centre can rejoice, as the prawn mee eatery, run by a former Burnt Ends chef, has now reopened as a standalone in the form of One Prawn & Co.
Located in MacPherson, One Prawn & Co has a menu of elevated hae mee dishes, including their signature Five Fortunes Jumbo Prawns Claypot ($30). Before you flinch at this price tag, this claypot-cooked prawn noodle dish comes with very fresh jumbo prawns, lala, house-made tobiko prawn balls, pork ribs, and shabu shabu sliced pork. The substantial portion is also able to feed two people reasonably. If you don’t want to splurge, the regular bowl of prawn mee here starts at $14. While sans all the frills of the claypot version, the normal portion does still come with the same, rich tonkatsu and prawn head broth that makes One Prawn & Co such a win.

Hailing all the way from Bulgaria is L’Arte Pizza and Focaccia, serving handcrafted Romana-style pizza by Chef Radostin Kiryazov, who’s got 30 years of pizza-making experience under his belt.
As the first outlet outside of Bulgaria, L’Arte Pizza’s menu features 10 flavours, all enhanced by the light and crackly pizza dough that is ripe with air pockets.
The truffle cream with ricotta cheese, salty Parma ham, rocket leaves, and a mix of mozzarella and Parmesan are what make the Tartufata ($34++) so rich in flavour. Don’t forget to try the Nutella ($20++), a dessert pizza that features drizzles of Nutella, slices of strawberry and banana, and a touch of mint leaves.

It’s been four years since Sugarhall at Amoy Street shut its doors, but it’s back now at a new location on Cecil Street, above Rosemead━a modern-Californian fine dining restaurant also by the Jigger and Pony Group.
Where the old iteration had a rum-focused menu, it’s now a list of 20 cocktails, split between classics and rum-based ones, including H&M Sour ($24++), where Roku Gin meets sencha, lemon, hazelnut liqueur, egg white, and matcha. Food-wise, order the Chicken Liver Toast ($8++) or Curry Empanadas ($8++) to start, and move on to the Wagyu Cheese Burger with Bacon and Fries ($35++). For a boozy dessert, try Elena’s Cheesecake with Rum and Raisin ($21++).

Ginger Lily is the newest high tea spot in town, located on the fifth floor of what’s now Hilton Singapore Orchard. The botanical-inspired set ($58++ per person) comes in a pretty pink case that reminds us of a hardcover coffee table book━slide it open to reveal five shelves of savoury and sweet delights. Do note that you’ll need a minimum of two diners to order this high tea set.

Tucked on the first floor of a nondescript industrial centre in Leng Kee is Yi Qian Private Dining, a new restaurant that champions Cantonese and Teochew fare. It’s helmed by Chef Raymond, who was previously from Golden Palace.
Highlights of the menu here include Crispy Prawn Fritters ($9.80++), filled with Sakura ebi, and Stir-fried Shark Fin Soup with Crabmeat, served with Superior Stock in Teapot ($68++). The Pig’s Stomach and Chicken in Pepper Soup ($108++) is also stellar. For a showstopping dessert, try the Sugar Encrusted Deep Fried Yam Sticks ($20++).

The latest opening by the group behind Maguro Donya, Maguro Yukimitsu is a fast-casual food stand in the basement food hall of Takashimaya Department Store with just 16 seats. True to its name, they also heavily feature maguro and sashimi sourced from Miura Misaki harbour.
The Matsu Sushi ($31.80) platter has an assortment of seafood, ranging from ebi, ikura, hotate, and the requisite tuna. If you’re a huge maguro fan, the Maguro Zukushi ($38.80) would be just the thing for you, with four maguro cuts and negitoro temaki.
