When people online joked about the ultimate Orchard Central itinerary, it went something like this: mala at Yang Guo Fu Mala Tang, a sweet treat at Yo-Chi, and a drink to cool down at Molly Tea or CHAGEE. Now, two brands, A Hot Hideout and PlayMade, are taking things a step further by combining mala and bubble tea into one unlikely creation.
From now till 6 November 2026, fans can try the new Mala Pearls, available at selected PlayMade and A Hot Hideout outlets. Get them at PlayMade outlets for $1.40 or $1.60 for a medium or large size, respectively, or at A Hot Hideout for $0.60 with drinks and $1.20 with food.
Don’t knock it before you try it; the pearls are perfectly QQ with a slight sweetness, paired with the familiar kick of mala.
Drench them in your mala tang so the pearls soak up all of their collagen goodness and, in turn, lend a hint of sweetness to the broth.
Or if you’re a purist, get them in PlayMade’s signature Taiwan Milk Tea with Mala Pearls for a spicy rendition of the beloved drink. The rich creaminess of the milk tea mellows out the fiery kick of the mala pearls, resulting in an addictive sweet-and-spicy combination.Â
PlayMade is also bringing back their fan-favourite Pomelo Blossom Milk Tea ($4.90++)—a blend of their smooth milk tea and tangy, refreshing pomelo. You can get it with the new Mala Pearls, or with the brand’s signature Pink Cactus Pearls.
That’s not all: PlayMade is also adding their aforementioned Pink Cactus Pearls to A Hot Hideout’s signature Thai Milk Tea, in both red and green milk tea flavours for just $0.60. Alternatively, you can also pair the Pink Cactus Pearls with food for just $1.20.
If you’re unimpressed with the size of the Mala Pearls, go biiig with their Mega Mala Boba (price TBD), a Halloween-exclusive special that’s only available on 31 October 2026 at selected PlayMade outlets: Tampines 1, 313@Somerset, Northpoint City, and Westgate.
Imagine a scaled-up version of the same Mala Pearls, with the same chewiness and punchy mala flavours. There are only 10 servings per outlet, so be sure to set your alarms to get there early.
Head down to your nearest A Hot Hideout and Playmade outlet to give this collab a go before it’s too late!Â
