Famous Japanese cafe Cafe Aux Bacchanales has a Singaporean offshoot in Plaza Singapura, selling their famed galettes, sandwiches, crepes and more. Start your brunch meal off with their picture-perfect Planche de Omelette Nature ($13.80++), a French omelette with potato gratin on the side, or come for dinner and get their Galette au Saumon & Herbs ($17.80++), where a pillowy soft crepe is topped with smoked salmon and sour cream for some tang.

Akimitsu offers value-for-money tempura dons, aka tendon. Boasting a long and rich history that stretches five generations, this family recipe is made affordable at Plaza Singapura. It is little wonder why there is always a long queue outside of the store. Try their Signature Tendon ($14.90++), which gets you a large variety of fried prawn, fish, egg, seaweed, and vegetable tempura.
Noodle lovers, don’t fret; there is also an option of Udon With Soft Shell Crab ($14.90++) that combines thick chewy noodles with savoury seafood. For the full Japanese experience, order a side of Tempura Maki ($5.90++), which features their signature tempura over sushi rice rolls.

For those looking to get pampered even while standing in line, pay a visit to the ever-popular Haidilao. Known for their customer service and birthday celebrations, a visit here definitely makes for an enjoyable experience. Choose your choice of Soup Base ($24++) from favourites such as tomato hot pot or Sichuan spicy hot pot and go all out on their wide selection of sides such as their Handmade Meatballs ($11++) and Fish Roe Stuffed Beancurd ($3++ for 5 pieces).

As its name suggests, award-winning Tamoya Udon specialises in udon. For their best-seller Sanuki Beef Onsen Egg Udon ($11.60+), the chef cracks a Japanese onsen egg over cooked slices of beef for the extra silkiness.
For lovers of pork broth, the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Udon ($11.20+) comes with a black garlic sauce that is made in-house. Top up your dishes with a selection of Tempura (from $1+), which includes their standard sides like Shiitake Mushroom or Prawn Tempura.

Hongdae Oppa is where you want to be for fast-casual Korean fare, fried chicken, and army stew. Get yourself their Oppa Chix, which comes in four flavours: gochujang, original, spicy, and soy garlic, and starts at just $10.90 for four pieces. Fill up on their Budae Jjigae ($35.90), which feeds two to three with all the fixings you find in army stew.

Started by a retired nurse, Cô Chung is the product of her aspirations to open an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. You can’t claim to be eating Vietnamese food without some Pho Beef Soup ($8.90+) that comes with a light yet not bland beef broth. If you are not a fan of noodles, they also have Com Tam ($9.85+), which features a unique egg meatloaf that contains meat and wood ear mushrooms.

Branching out from Bangkok, the award-winning Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice has one of its four local outlets in Plaza Singapura. A plate of their Chicken Rice ($4.50++), served similar to the way they do in Bangkok, contains poached chicken breast and slices of cucumber. There is also an option to top up to $5.50++ for chicken thigh. If you are on a higher budget, get the Deep Fried Sea Bass With Thai Chilli Sauce ($28++), served with a whole sea bass dressed in Thai-style sour and spicy flavours.

Five Guys opened its Singapore flagship store at Plaza Singapura in 2019, offering a range of their popular burgers. Chomp down on Bacon-Cheeseburger ($17), which features pieces of applewood bacon inside their classic Cheeseburger ($15). For those not looking for a burger, they also have a Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($8) that contains green pepper, American cheese, and mushrooms for an array of flavours.
Finally, wash down your meal with a Five Guys Shake ($10). An order allows for any number of free mix-ins. These include peanut butter, coffee and bacon among many others.

One of their two outlets in Singapore, the halal-certified Cajun On Wheels offers a Louisiana-style seafood concept. For a quick affordable seafood fix, try their Mussels Stew ($23.90+) which feeds up to two. It contains mussels cooked in a spicy tomato stew base, three pieces of sweet corn, four pieces of baby potatoes, and your choice of sauce.

Those who don’t like sharing hotpot, or have hygiene icks about sharing food can embrace FuFu Pot, a new solo hotpot restaurant. The broth here comes in a medley of Asian inspired flavours, from Army Stew to Stinky Tofu. Prices start from $9.90++ for a broth base, and go up to $24.90++. The pot comes served with a variety of ingredients, including shabu shabu meat, greens, and vegetables.

Claiming to bring “the taste of Taiwan” to you, Typhoon Cafe sells an IG-worthy Souffle Stack ($17++) that makes for the perfect jiggly IG boomerang.
If you are here for the authentic Taiwan experience, try the vinegary Taiwanese Oyster Mee Sua ($14.90++), where the accompanying proteins such as pig intestine and oyster come crispy fried.
