Popeyes Has A New Limited-Time Surf n’ Turf Menu With Mushroom Mashed Potatoes

Cajun Surf n’ Turf At Popeyes

While a surf and turf dish usually packs both red meat and seafood, Popeyes changes the game by adding a fried chicken spin to this classic pairing with its Cajun Surf n’ Turf Set Meal ($8.90).

Available from 6 August to 23 September 2019, each set comprises blackened fish, buttermilk shrimps, mushroom mashed potatoes, and the brand’s signature fried chicken.

Along with a side of garlic rice, the Cajun Surf n’ Turf Combo Meal ($10.20) will also include a limited-edition Yuzu Dew drink in collaboration with Mountain Dew.

The fish is marinated in blackened spice, a versatile spice mix that’s used in Cajun cuisine. It commonly consists of paprika, a blend of onion and garlic powder, and a variety of dried herbs— bringing an exciting depth of flavour to the fish.

It’s then fried to a golden-brown crisp, resulting in crispy skin and buttery-smooth flesh.

The meal also includes crunchy buttermilk shrimps that are back by popular demand after its appearance in last month’s Fizzy-Chicky-Shrimplicious set.

It’s marinated in buttermilk to give it a beautiful crust while tenderising it at the same time. The result is succulent meat that’s accompanied by a crunchy craggy exterior.

The regular mashed potatoes from Popeyes are given a flavourful boost with a special mushroom sauce. The sauce gives a heavy umami-laden punch to this classic favourite, going well with the fluffy potatoes.

You can also choose a piece of mild or spicy chicken to go with this hearty meal. We like more heat to our meat and opted for the spicy variant. The taste remained as consistent as our last visit, boasting juicy flesh and golden-brown crispy skin.

It ticks all the right boxes for a comforting serving of deep-fried chicken goodness.

Fans of Mountain Dew should check out the new Yuzu Dew. An exclusive collaboration between Popeyes and Mountain Dew, this drink combines a squirt of yuzu syrup with Mountain Dew.

The yuzu’s tartness goes well with the bold and vibrant citrusy notes from the Mountain Dew, making this a real palate cleanser. All you have to do is top up $0.50 from the regular set meal to try this refreshing treat.

The surf and turf menu is available for a limited time, so be sure to get your hands on them before it swims away. Be sure to also check out Popeyes’ new outlets at Waterway Point and their newly-refurbished outlet at Novena Square 2 as well!
