This Underrated Ramen Eatery Has Legit Tonkotsu And Black Garlic Broth In West Coast

Ramen Shiba has affordable ramen at West Coast Plaza

Recently, we visited Artbox, a popular food and lifestyle fair in Singapore, and featured eight must-try dishes in our Artbox 2023 food guide. One recommended pick was Ramen Shiba, a homegrown restaurant in West Coast Plaza, which is a short bus ride away from Clementi MRT Station

They recently opened in 2022, and have since garnered good reviews from customers. The place resembles the set-up of a cosy restaurant in an anime, with cute wooden chairs and tables in a casual setting. There are also counter seats available for individuals who prefer to enjoy their meal alone.

We highly recommend the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen with Flavoured Egg ($14.90) that we tried at Artbox. This bowl holds springy noodles, tender chashu, black fungus, and a hanjuku egg. You can enjoy all these ingredients in their creamy and super flavourful broth, zhnged-up with black garlic oil. Alternatively, for a spicy kick, get their Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen ($12.90) instead.

Shiba Ramen is great for those who are picky with their ramen, as you can adjust the amount of oil, salt, and spice added to your dish. Plus, you can also specify your preferred thickness and texture of the noodles!

If you want a simpler option, you can also go for their Original Tonkotsu Ramen ($11.90) which stars their signature pork bone broth. Or if you want to customise your bowl, they offer various toppings such as Japanese Seaweed ($1), Marinated Japanese Bamboo Shoot ($2), and Spicy Minced Meat ($3).

For those who must have rice with every meal, Ramen Shiba has donburi! Try their recommended Mentaiko Salmon Grilled Don ($14.90) or Pork Shogayaki Don ($10.90). For a healthier option, you can also switch to brown rice at no extra cost.

Get their side dishes for sharing, including Chicken Karaage ($5.90) and Pork Gyoza ($5.90/$10)
