The Salted Plum Is Having A Street Party With Taiwanese Street Food And $5 Nett Beer

The Salted Plum Street Party

Known for serving up Taiwanese-inspired fare, The Salted Plum will be transforming its entire first floor to a karaoke hall this Sunday.

Themed The Salted Plum’s Street Party 2019, diners can look forward to Taiwan Beers at $5 nett and a grill dishing up BBQ grub.

Premiering for the first time is the Street-sized Yusheng ($12 nett), which has crispy deep-fried chicken skin, giving off a nice crunch.

The Bakkwa Bun will also be something new, with glazed pork belly that is barbecued to a glistening brown and served between freshly grilled buns.

Admission is free, and the event will take place at their Circular Road outlet on 13 January 2019 from 3pm to late. With affordable beers, karaoke, and Taiwanese-inspired street food on offer, we expect this little restaurant on Boat Quay to get a whole lot livelier this Sunday.

However, if you can’t make it down on this #SundayFunday, here are classic dishes you can enjoy at the restaurant during their normal operating hours.

Chug a few down while indulging in the wide assortment of tapas-style dishes on offer. We recommend going for the Baby Shrimp With Salted Egg Yolk ($10+). The intense deep-fried shrimp flavours mixed with creamy salted egg yolk bits is said to pair well with the light and crisp lager.

Popular favourites such as their Burnt Chilli Chicken Rice ($10+) will also be available, with seared chicken chunks that are served on a bed of white jasmine rice and topped with runny sous-vide egg. This dish gets a special boost of flavours from the “burnt chilli”, giving off a strong toasty aroma.
