Museum dining in Singapore usually means a quiet cafe tucked beside the gift shop. Seoul & So at National Gallery Singapore is going in a different direction entirely, serving Hanwoo and other premium cuts just a lift ride away from art collections.
The restaurant is run by siblings Rhee Hyuk Kee and Rhee So Hyun, the second-generation owners of Seoul Restaurant at Conrad Singapore Orchard. While it’s a natural extension of the family business, Seoul & So carves out its own identity with a cleaner, more minimalist space centred around an eye-catching tree installation.
The concept here skips individual tabletop grills—meats are sold by 100g portions and grilled at centralised stations away from the table. The lineup includes Hanwoo, Australian Wagyu, USDA Prime, and Iberico Pork, with the option of a four-course lunch set from $35++: one appetiser, side dish, and a choice of pork or beef BBQ.
The Seoul Galbi ($35++), Seoul Restaurant’s signature short rib in a sweet-savoury housemade marinade, carries over as a signature here too. Other standouts include the Hanging Tender ($33++), A5 Japanese Wagyu Chuck Eye ($49++), and Gwangyang Bulgogi ($39++), featuring thinly sliced A5 Japanese Wagyu chuck eye finished in a savoury-sweet Gwangyang-style sauce.
There’s also a solid Hanwoo lineup for those who want it, from the leaner Inside Skirt ($39++) to the buttery Point End Brisket ($49++) and Striploin ($59++).
Pork options are simpler but no less considered, with Jeju White Pork Belly Samgyeopsal and Pork Jowl both going for $19++ per 100g. Banchan and sauces come complimentary, and to round out the meal, there’s Kimchi Jjigae ($19++), Gyeran Jim ($15++), and Mul Naengmyeon ($19++) too.
Beyond that, there’s a dedicated eight-course Hanwoo Tasting Menu ($119++) for those who don’t mind splurging, available by reservation only. If you’re visiting on Saturday or Sunday lunch, you’ll also get free-flow Korean makgeolli and apple cider.
