ICYMI: Shifu Food Court at Bras Basah Complex has reopened its doors! The popular food court, which has been around since 2001, recently underwent a major revamp before unveiling a brand-new look.
Upon stepping in, you’ll be greeted by a fun and lively atmosphere, complete with colourful storefronts and decor reminiscent of vibrant street food stalls.
The new food court is rather spacious, with both indoor and outdoor seating, and a whopping total of 14 stalls to choose from.
A standout is Chun Noodle Bar, which puts an interesting spin on wonton mee.
Their Truffle Char Siu Wanton Noodle ($9.50/$11.50) features al dente mee kia zhnged up with a dash of truffle pate, tossed in a fragrant house-made sauce. The dish is then topped with wonton and char siew. Each bowl comes with a side of tonkatsu soup, which elevates the dining experience.
Alternatively, noodle lovers can check out Ah Gong KKM for their hearty bowls of ke kou mian.
A crowd favourite is the Spicy Combo KKM ($9.90), featuring noodles topped with pork balls, fresh prawns, and sweet clams. Choose one of five types of noodles: Koka Noodles, U-Mian, Ban Mian, Shaved Noodles, and Mee Hoon Kuen.
Popular bak chor mee brand Ding Ji also makes an appearance.
You’ll find their signature Teochew Mushroom Minced Meat Noodles ($5) here, where mee pok is tossed in a piquant chilli sauce, then finished with minced meat and juicy mushroom slices.
If you love Japanese food, you have to check out Haru-Haru Speciality in Mentaiko, which offers XL katsu bowls loaded with mentaiko under $15!
We recommend the Mentai Pork Katsu Don ($9.90), where a generous slab of deep-fried pork cutlet is topped with creamy mentaiko mayo and served on a bed of fluffy Japanese pearl rice.
Other highlights at Shifu Food Court include Penang fried kway teow, Thai fried chicken, and yong tau foo.
