This Cafe Has A Jellycat-Inspired Menu With $28+ High Tea, Adorable Cakes And More

Simplicite has a Jellycat-themed menu in Eunos

You may have noticed the recent surge in Jellycat-inspired plushies from local brands, such as the Mr. Merlion hawker plushies and Play Nation’s kopi plushies. If you’re a fan, don’t miss this: a Jellycat-themed menu and high tea at Simplicite, a French-inspired cafe tucked away along Changi Road

The cafe boasts a bright yet cosy interior, with a lineup of genuine Jellycat plushies adorning the counter tabletop. You’re welcome to pick your favourite and snap a pic with your meal.

We started with the Cookiecrumb Loaf ($13+), which contained Biscoff and white chocolate mousse alongside Biscoff cream and a crumble. It was almost painful digging into its pristine exterior; the cake looked too adorable and smooth!

Well, we did not regret it: the cake was a lovely mix of velvety sweet white chocolate and caramel from the Biscoff. It’s perfect for those with a sweet tooth, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste.

The Sunny Cheeselet ($13+), despite its appearance as a wedge of holey cheese, was made from a mango mousse and jelly layered with a chocolate sponge. We enjoyed its sweet yet tart flavour and whimsical theme.

The Blueberry Pancake Stack ($21+) looked exactly like its Jellycat counterpart: plump blueberries and a cheeky face atop a fat stack of three pancakes. We loved how fluffy and thick these blueberry-infused pancakes were, and they were so satisfying when dipped in the drizzled caramel sauce.

Their signature Messy Breakfast ($26+) came with a large croissant-shaped shio pan, Bockwurst sausage, truffle scrambled eggs, bacon, and mushrooms. While we thought that the truffle oil was slightly too strong—it permeated the entire dish—each component complemented the others well, from the juicy sausage to the creamy mushrooms and fluffy scrambled eggs.

The Double Cheese Da Bomb Burger ($24+) was stacked with two sizeable beef patties, a runny sunny-side-up, bacon, cheddar, and tartar sauce. The bacon was a tad too salty, but we appreciated the spiced beef patties and crispy egg that made for a decadent and filling burger.

I was really surprised by the Mushroom Soup ($13+); I had initially discounted its appearance as nothing outstanding, but it turned out to be my top pick here.

The smoothly blended wild mushrooms had such a creamy texture, while not being as thin as some other mushroom soups due to the addition of butter. Coupled with the accompanying baguette slices, this soup was an absolute winner.

The cutest drink to pair with your dishes is the Iced Fresh Strawberry Matcha Latte ($12+). It featured a substantial amount of strawberry compote, but its real draw was the vibrantly dusted exterior, complete with an adorable smile.

Otherwise, their other beverages arrive in charming Jellycat ceramic mugs. We tried the Rose Latte ($9.90+), which had bold floral notes that confidently stood out against the creamy milk coffee.

If you’re here from 2pm to 6pm, indulge in their Jellycat Whimsy Hour ($55.90+), a high tea for two. This works out to just under $28+ per person! The set includes pairs of Macarons, Strawberry Tartlets, Milk Tea Mousse, Smoked Salmon Canapés, Truffle Angel Hair, and more, whilst served with your choice of tea or coffee in a pot.

The sweet pastries were rather tiny, and we thought the raisin scone was too dry. The savouries, however, were more enjoyable; the Smoked Salmon Canapes were rich and smoky with a burst of freshness from the avocado puree. The Truffle Angel Hair, on the other hand, had so much flavour: earthiness from the truffle and sesame oils, complemented by the variety of textures from the sesame seeds, tobiko, and seaweed.

Simplicite used to be the lab-experiment-themed Fresh Fruits Lab, and was rebranded in 2021 to the French-inspired cafe it is now. The Jellycat menu is a limited-time offering, but there is currently no planned end date. The cafe is nestled along Changi Road, and is an eight-minute walk from Kembangan MRT Station
