You heard it here first: Um Yong Baek is launching a new concept this August 2025. The ever-popular Korean restaurant—famous for its long queues and hearty Busan-style pork soup and rice—is rolling out Joong San, a Korean BBQ restaurant just a short walk from its two existing CBD branches.

According to a brand representative, Joong San will serve Korean BBQ dishes rooted in traditional marinades.

Highlights include Eonyang-style beef bulgogi, where thin slices of beef are marinated in a less-sweet sauce, pan-seared, then finished on the grill. There’s also Andong-style beef galbi: meaty beef ribs seasoned with garlic and grilled over charcoal till smoky perfection.

Other highlights on the menu include charcoal-grilled pork, as well as the restaurant’s signature beancurd stew AKA kongbiji-jjigae, prepared with house-made tofu.

Alternatively, cool down with their Busan-style naengmyeon, a regional variation of Korea’s famous cold noodles. This version stars a light and refreshing broth made from beef stock, with a slight tang from the vinegar and mustard.

We’ll update this article once more details about Joong San are released.

If you’re visiting Um Yong Baek for lunch, we recommend their UYB Clear Daejigukbab ($22++). This traditional Busan-style pork and rice soup dish features a generous mix of pork collar, tender pork cheek, and pork stomach, atop a bed of short-grain rice and flavourful pork broth.

Otherwise, visit the restaurant for their K-BBQ dinner menu, where you can get Jeju-style grilled pork and piping-hot Korean stews.
