Some of us may recall the good old days when food and drinks cost mere cents instead of dollars. With the cost of living these days, imagine our surprise when we happened to pass by Soon Huat Coffee Stall, which sells kopi and teh for less than a dollar!
Tucked away in Telok Blangah Crescent Market and Food Centre, the stall is run by a friendly pair of hawkers, selling your classic drink stall range of coffee, teh, and milo.
A single cup of Kopi O costs just $0.70, while regular Kopi ($0.80) and Kopi C ($0.90) are also just under a dollar. If you prefer tea, their Teh O ($0.80), Teh ($0.90), and Teh C ($1) cost just a little more but still remain incredibly affordable.
We tried their Kopi O, Kopi Siu Dai Iced ($1.20), and an Iced Milo ($1.50) for variety. The coffee here was strong, dark, and fragrant, while the iced milo was gao but not overly sweet, with the perfect ratio of milo powder, condensed milk, and ice. With a price tag that is virtually unheard of these days, the drinks here are definitely more than worth it if you’re ever in the area.
