Pasar malam will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will never walk past one without buying a serving of vadai or Ramly burger to munch on. But while I am a neighbourhood gal at heart who loves the dinginess of our local night markets, my heart truly sings when I hear about pop-ups like Boutiques at F1 Pit Building and farmers’ markets such as Sprout.
Happening on 11 and 12 May 2019 from 10am to 8pm, Sprout brings over 90 homegrown food brands under one roof. The best part is that it’s conveniently located at Suntec City Convention Centre, instead of some faraway farm. Plus, since it’s in a mall, there’s air-conditioning too, so you won’t have to trek around dripping wet.

Here, you can get your hands on really cool specialty items, such as handsewn blooming teas from Pétale Tea. This super chio tea will be perfect as a Mother’s Day gift, which if you didn’t know, happens on the same weekend. Other highlights include kombucha, artisanal chocolate and vegan cheeses!
There will also be booths serving hot grub to tide you through the day for when hunger strikes. Look forward to Crispy Pork Crackling Buns and Sea Salt Dark Chocolate Cookies by Plentyfull. Or try halal-certified Yummy Takoyaki’s scrumptious Cheese Banjir Takoyaki. Vegan friends can also savour The Beyond Burger and Beyond Sausage at Glife Technologies.
If mom loves to cook and you haven’t decided how to celebrate Mother’s Day, then join a Cooking Masterclass led by Michelin-star chefs including Chef’s Emmanuel Stroobant of Saint Pierre and Han Li Guang from Labyrinth. Tickets are priced from $95 to $115 for two people, and you can register your interest here.
The event is not just for foodies as there will also be an array of handmade and natural products including essential oils, organic skin care and more.
Share with us in the comments below if you’re as excited about this farmers’ market as we are!
