There’s no shortage of good Western hawker stalls in Singapore, but only a handful manage to stay affordable despite the rising costs. One of these gems is Star Western in Kovan, which offers $1 chicken wings! Plus, they are open 24 hours daily, making it an amazing supper spot.Â
Here, you will find an extensive selection including All-Day Breakfast Platters, Pancakes, French Toast, Pasta, Chicken Chop, and even the lesser-seen at coffeeshops, the Rosti. The best part is that every dish here costs under $12.Â
But the most attractive thing on their menu is definitely their Chicken Wings which go for just $1 each! Do note that you need to get at least two to enjoy this special deal. The wings are said to be freshly fried so they come piping hot and crispy, making it a great add-on to your meal.Â
If you love breakfast foods as much as I do, go for their All-Day Breakfast platter which features breakfast staples: baked beans, sausages, and scrambled eggs, among others. Their most basic plate starts at $9.90 but they have a more premium version with more sides for $11.90.Â
They also do a pretty decent Rosti ($5.90) here, a delicious savoury Swiss potato pancake typically priced over $10 at cafes. For the real deal, get the Sausage And Egg ($9.90) version, which comes with a sausage, a sunny-side-up, and a dollop of sour cream.Â
Another popular item is their Chicken Chop ($7.90), boasting tender grilled meat paired with two sides. This dish comes in a generous portion for its price, perfect for when you’re feeling peckish.
Star Western is an eight-minute walk from Kovan MRT Station.Â
