10 Takeaway Sushi Spots Not Found Within Your Usual Supermarkets

Takeaway sushi to solve your cravings on the go

Sometimes, I need a sushi fix and I need it fast. Sure, conveyor belt places are great, but joining a snaking queue, sitting down and waiting for sushi to arrive – that’s just too much hassle. If you agree with me, these takeaway spots have a great variety of sashimi and sushi rolls to satisfy your craving when you are hopping between appointments or on the way home.

1. Fish Mart Sakuraya

Sakuraya has three outlets around Singapore: West Coast Plaza, Anchorpoint and Parkway Parade. This Japanese mini-mart and cafe prides itself on providing fresh ingredients, so you know that the sashimi you’re getting is of good quality. Their takeaway section features sashimi, sushi and bento boxes, and you can order in advance if you want a large platter. They do delivery, which comes free for orders above $100.

2. Roll Out Sushi Bar

Source

Takeout sushi bar Roll Out offers modern interpretations of sushi. Most rolls look like an inside-out maki roll with rice on the outside and ingredients on the inside.  Apart from crowd-favourite sushi ingredients like salmon sashimi, hawker food-inspired sushi rolls have also been rolled out. Like The Hainanese ($4.90), which features poached chicken and ginger sauce on a roll of chicken-flavoured sushi rice. Each roll ranges from $3.90 for a deluxe roll to $5.90 for more premium ones.

3. Isetan Scotts

Source

The food at Isetan Scotts has always been stellar, but after the renovation in May, it truly has become one of the best Japanese supermarkets in Singapore. The 18,000 sq-ft supermarket has tons of Japanese goodies and products, including a dashi bar and Hokkaido milk frozen yoghurt. But the true star here is their takeout sushi. Expect to find fresh sashimi and bento boxes here. Pro-tip: Everything is 50 percent off at closing time, so you can even get a bara chirashi set at $14 (U.P. $28).

4. Sushi Burrito

Source

Sushi Burrito is a new spin on regular sushi rolls. Sushi ingredients are wrapped into a large “burrito” using seaweed instead of tortilla. The result is a very substantial lunch option convenient for the working crowd. The joint calls itself a ‘healthy Japanese fast food restaurant’, and features lots of veggies in their freshly-rolled wraps. Their bestselling sushi burrito is Rising Sun ($6.90 for half, $12.90 for a full roll), which consists of salmon sashimi, crab meat and lots of greens!

Prices for sushi starts at $0.80. They also have bentos to-go at $6.80.

Grab that takeaway sushi

Sushi is one of those dishes that can be both fancy and fuss-free. Go atas by having it at a fancy restaurant, or save some money and head to somewhere with a conveyor belt. As for me, I don’t mind having sushi from a plastic box, comfortably curled up at home.
