The Hainan Story Is Opening In Northpoint City With Pork Knuckle Mee Tai Mak And Lala Bee Hoon

The Hainan Story is opening in Yishun

The story continues as The Hainan Story is set to launch its eighth outlet and third coffeehouse concept on 20 January 2024, this time in Yishun’s Northpoint City. The franchise is known for its Hainanese dishes and snacks that are firmly rooted in tradition, and at this latest branch, you can expect the same along with some outlet exclusives.

Like the other two coffeehouse concepts in NEX and Chinatown Point, the Yishun outlet has a nostalgic charm. Its red brick walls, mosaic tiles, and louvre windows certainly contribute to that vibe.

One of the more exciting outlet exclusives is the Hainam Braised Pork Knuckle Mee Tai Mak ($13.80), which combines silky mee tai mak noodles with juicy braised pork knuckles. Black fungus, dried shredded cuttlefish, and a hard-boiled egg also feature in this claypot.

Another outlet-exclusive noodle dish to try is the Hainam Braised White Bee Hoon ($13.80). Here, a pile of white bee hoon is drenched in a comforting chicken tomato broth, then joined by shredded chicken breast, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, and a good amount of clams.

As for lighter snacks, the Yishun exclusive to try the Crispy Lotus Leaf Buns with Hainanese Braised Pork Belly ($9.80), which stars a succulent chunk of pork belly in a bun that’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

If it’s your first time in a Hainan Story outlet, be sure to check out some of the fan favourites as well. Dishes such as the Baked Hainanese Rice Cake Lasagna ($9.80), Hainanese Pork Patty Noodle Soup ($8.80), and Ah Kor Hainanese Lamb Stew with Rice ($17.80) will be available at this Northpoint branch, so do give them a shot if you’d like to try the classics first.
