Tom’s Palette Opens In Kovan With Putu Mayam Cone And New Gelato Flavours

Tom’s Palette opens in Kovan with new gelato flavours

Hougang and Kovan residents, you’re in for a treat: Tom’s Palette has opened in your hood! The new gelato cafe is a mere seven-minute walk from Kovan MRT Station.

If you didn’t know, Tom’s Palette is touted to be one of the OG ice cream cafes in Singapore, having been around for nearly 20 years. Not too long ago, they reopened in Bugis in September 2023 with a spacious dine-in cafe. This Kovan outlet seems like the next step in their evolution, featuring new menu items and interiors decked out in yellow paintings.

Here, you can expect an all-new dessert: King Pin Cone ($7.80). Inspired by Singapore’s “Bee Hoon King”, Lim Ah Pin, this outlet-exclusive item features fresh coconut milk gelato—named the Tekka Market Coconut flavour—and putu mayam in a cone, topped with jaggery red sugar.

New flavours on the menu include the White Chocolate Passionfruit, Honey Apricot Cardamom, and Sober Pina Colada. Those three flavours, along with Salted Caramel Cheesecake, Kochi Yuzu, and Alphonso Mango Sorbet, form the outlet-exclusive set of six, Tom’s Shades of Yellow ($29.80).

You can also get Tom’s Palette ($29.80) here, a staple at the Bugis cafe. Like the previous set, this comprises six gelato scoops lined up on a platter, best for sharing. Think of it as gelato omakase, as there’s no telling what flavours you’re getting!

Don’t forget to pair your gelato with freshly baked Waffles, priced at $3.80 for half and $7.50 for a full waffle. You can top up $5.20 for a scoop of gelato, $9.60 for two, or $12.60 for three if you’re feeling greedy.

Mainstay gelato flavours include White Chocolate Nori, a savoury-sweet combination of Japanese Seaweed gelato with white chocolate-coated almonds. Other noteworthy mentions are the Sicilian Pistachio, Kyoto Hojicha, and Pipagao flavours.
