Un-Yang-Kor-Dai: Michelin-Approved Northern Thai Restaurant Near Clarke Quay MRT

If you love Thai food, but you want more than just tom yum and pineapple fried rice, you need to check out Un-Yang-Kor-Dai on South Bridge Road. Previously awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2022, and the Michelin Plate in 2021, this popular restaurant serves up legit Isaan dishes from the North-Eastern region of Thailand.

Isaan cuisine primarily consists of grilled meats, Thai-style salads, and fermented sauces, cooked with a myriad of local herbs and veggies for some brightness. The simple yet flavourful dishes are often paired with sticky rice.

Their signature PenLaos Signature Grilled Chicken (from $15++) is a must-try. This unique Isaan dish is full of aroma, thanks to its three-day marination process, which features white peppercorn and coriander.

There’s also a popular Steamed Whole Sea Bass in Spicy Thai Lime Sauce ($35.90++) that’ll go well with your choice of carb—options include Isaan Spicy Grilled Pork Neck Fried Rice ($15.90++), Glutinous Brown Rice ($2++), and Jasmine Rice ($1.50++).

It’s not a complete feast without their Massaman Grilled Duck ($27.90++), a mildly spiced red curry loaded with sweet potato chunks, peanuts, and savoury duck slices.

End your meal on a sweet note with the refreshing Red Ruby in Coconut Milk ($8.50++) or Thai Milk Pudding ($6.80++), a smooth and creamy Thai milk tea-infused dessert. Otherwise, you also won’t go wrong with the Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango ($9.50++).

Do note that it might be hard to get a table during peak hours, so we recommend booking online before heading down. The restaurant is a two-minute walk from Clarke Quay MRT Station. It’s also a short minute away by foot from dessert parlour DOPA on South Bridge, so you can there for desserts after your meal.
