When Wildfire Burgers first opened their doors in the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) campus, their affordable burgers and fried chicken were met with much fanfare. They’ve since launched a second outlet along Keppel Road, but now, only the newly revamped branch in the bustling Robertson Walk remains.
My colleague and I were given the newly launched Wedge Salad ($13++) and Salt & Vinegar Fried Onion Rings ($8++) to try first. The former is a healthy alternative comprising iceberg lettuce topped with a creamy parmesan dressing, and served with a side of crispy bacon, cherry tomatoes, and crushed Kampot pepper—a type of black pepper. Then there’s my colleague’s pick, which features thin, crispy onion rings with a nice balance of sweet and salty.
Moving on to the exciting part: we tried a total of four burgers, and the Triple Bacon Burger ($23++) turned out to be a collective favourite.
We loved how the double Wagyu patties were neatly stacked with crispy bacon slices, sweet bacon jam, creamy baconnaise—bacon-flavoured mayonnaise—and double cream brie. At first glance, we thought the addition of three different bacon ingredients might overpower the Wagyu patties, but we were proven otherwise, as the rich flavour of the beef was at the forefront. I also liked that the crispy bacon bits added a nice textural contrast to the buttery Wagyu patty!
Moving on to the Truffled Mushroom Burger ($22++), this incredibly delicious burger stars double Wagyu patties, sauteed mushrooms, and beer-pickled onions drenched in truffled mayonnaise. And of course, you get nicely toasted brioche buns to hold together the tower of ingredients. Truffle fans will surely love this one—it was fragrant, juicy, and creamy all at once.
Their Hot Honey Butter Chicken ($18++) was also moreish. You get a huge crispy chicken fried to a nice shade of golden brown, as well as pickled chilli, beer-pickled onion, a generous layer of coleslaw, and whipped hot honey butter and garlic mayo as the finishing touches.
Though it looked daunting at first, this huge burger was surprisingly easy to eat. Don’t worry about the spice level—the hot honey butter sauce was mildly punchy, and the addition of coleslaw helped to mellow out the spice. You also get a slightly tangy aftertaste thanks to the pickled chilli! This one’s great for those who want an alternative to beef burgers.
Since we tried both beef and chicken burgers, we had to go for the Black Halibut Burger ($18++) as the finale. This is probably the most mess-free burger on the menu: it comes with a meaty, tender Norwegian black halibut fillet sandwiching melted cheddar cheese and dill tartar sauce, along with pickled onions and shredded cabbage.
The black halibut was so soft that it didn’t take many bites to gobble this burger up. Plus, we really liked how it was paired with a creamy dill tartar sauce as it reminded us of fish and chips. If you love fish, I recommend giving the Black Halibut Burger a go.
There’s also an extensive selection of drinks here: wine, sake, cocktail, draught beer and more. We decided to get their Pisco Fizz ($20++), Apple Old Fashioned ($22++), and Mango Smoothie ($12++) as we thought they would complement our burgers well.
Here’s a pro tip: all cocktails are priced at $12++ during happy hours, which run from 4pm to 7pm every day!
Wildfire Burgers is a six-minute walk from Fort Canning MRT Station and an easy two-minute stroll to UE Square. You can pick from a variety of seating arrangements; dine outside on a breezy evening, head inside for a more intimate experience, or snag a bar seat if you want to grab a quick drink.
One of my favourite things about their new space was this screen with a Spotify playlist—I love how it displayed the songs playing in real time.
Wildfire Burgers is the kind of burger bar where you can spend your weeknight hanging out with friends over drinks and burgers after work. It’s also a great weekend date spot to soak in the vibey atmosphere. If you’re willing to spend some dough on burgers, you know where to head to!
