Punggol dwellers who are also WOK HEY fans rejoice! A representative from the brand has confirmed WOK HEY will be opening their newest branch at Waterway Point come the second week of December 2020.

From truffle noodles to bulgogi fries, food choices at Punggol are numerous. Joining the wide variety of eateries there is the new WOK HEY outlet, which will be located just beside Mr Coconut, just outside Punggol MRT Station.

If you’re unfamiliar with the chain, WOK HEY is a takeaway kiosk known for their stir-fried dishes such as egg fried rice and ramen, which come in small and distinct yellow takeout boxes.

Fun fact: They currently have 24 outlets in operation scattered across the country despite having opened their first little kiosk only a while back in 2017.

If you’re unsure of what to get during your visit, my personal favourite is the flavourful Egg Fried Rice ($5) which almost reminds me of Din Tai Fung’s version. While their fragrant and smoky fried rice is plenty filling, those who crave some protein can get the Egg Fried Rice With Seasoned Prawns ($6.80). Otherwise, the Egg Fried Rice With Grilled Chicken ($5.80) is another affordable option generously packed with chunks of juicy chicken.

Alternatively, try WOK HEY’s Fresh Udon (from $6), stir-fried alongside egg, cabbage, and onions, which provide an extra crunch. Similarly pick from grilled chicken, seasoned prawns, and braised beef to go with your choice of carbs. If you aren’t quite an udon person, their Fresh Ramen is also available from $6 as well.

Add a Sous Vide Egg or some extra greens such as Edamame for just an additional $1 if you’re feeling up to it.

Readers seeking a healthier fix of stir-fried takeout will also be glad to hear that WOK HEY now offers healthier options as well. Opt for their Egg Fried Rice or Shanghai Fried Rice In Healthier Edition (HE). Both go from $5 with brown rice served alongside an egg and a vegetable of your choice. Likewise, their Fresh Ramen and Fresh Udon In Healthier Edition (HE) also come with cabbage, onions, and a vegetable of your choice from $6 each.

For more new openings, PIVOT is a relatively new cafe located in the CBD serving tamago sandos. Otherwise, check out Guilt, an all-cookie bakery with their newly opened flagship store located at Arab Street.

Address: 83 Punggol Central, #01-K6, Waterway Point East Wing, Singapore 828761
