Yang Xiao Xian: XXL Mango Ice At Famous Taiwanese Milk Ice Chain In Somerset

Yang Xiao Xian opens at Orchard Gateway with famous milk ice

We’re currently going through a spate of ultra-hot weather, so if you’re looking for a respite, here’s one for you. Yang Xiao Xian is a famous Taiwanese milk ice chain that has recently opened their first outlet in Singapore!

If you never heard of Yang Xiao Xian before, they are extremely popular for their Mein Mein Ice 绵绵冰 (mián mián bīng), which here refers to milk ice. It’s hard to miss their new outlet at Orchard Gateway, which is brightly lit, decked in orange and white, and decorated with Chinese characters on the walls.

You definitely have to try their signature Mango Milk Ice, which is milky, sweet, and creamy. It features shaved milk ice bathed in mango syrup, and topped with chunks of fresh mango. You can get this dessert in two sizes—Standard Mango Milk Ice ($16.80) which serves one to two, or Super Mango Milk Ice ($28.80), which is great for three to five diners.

The shaved milk ice has a soft, flaky texture that simply melts in the mouth. It also boasts a rich creaminess, making this a refreshing dessert that’s hard to resist.

You can also choose to get additional toppings to go with your mango shaved ice, such as Grass Jelly ($2), Yam Paste ($1), and Egg Pudding ($2). We got their Handmade Taro Balls ($4), which come in different flavours such as Sweet Potato and Matcha.

For the bubble tea addicts out there, you’d be pleased to know that they have a boba-inspired dessert for you. Their Treasure Milk Tea Cotton Ice ($16.80/$24) stars a generous amount of tapioca pearls atop milk tea-infused shaved ice.

Apart from their shaved milk ice, Yang Xiao Xian also offers other desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth, such as Honey with Herbal Jelly ($7/$11), Cheesy Strawberry Tea ($6.80/$10), and White Peach Oolong Tea ($6.80/$10).
