You Fu Opens In Woodlands With Famous Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee And New Pao Fan

You Fu opens in Woodlands with famous fried hokkien prawn mee

Good news for Woodlands residents: You Fu has opened in Woodlands Crescent, a 15-minute walk from Admiralty MRT Station. In case you didn’t know, You Fu is famous for their wok hei fried hokkien prawn mee. The stall is run by two young brothers.

The Woodlands stall is the brand’s second branch, following its successful opening at Golden Mile Food Centre. Do note that their Chinatown stall, named YouFu Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle, is led by the duo’s father.

Each serving of their signature Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle goes at $5. There’s also a bigger $7 plate available if you’re feeling extra hungry.

When we visited their OG Golden Mile stall in 2020, we found the hokkien mee packed with wok hei and a rich, umami-laden flavour from the broth. This seems to be the same case for their Woodlands branch, with online reviews lauding the dish to be highly fragrant and full of wok hei.

You can also look forward to two new mains on their menu: Magic Pao Fan ($5), and Sesame Oil Chow Mein ($5). Both are said to boast a strong wok hei fragrance. For the former, pearl rice is first fried in a wok, then doused with the same hokkien mee broth, resulting in a robust and flavour-packed dish.

The sesame oil noodles comprise udon tossed in sesame oil-spiked gravy with discernible pepper notes.

You Fu sits in a coffeeshop in the Woodlands estate, along with other noteworthy stalls such as Jofa Meepok. There’s also a Japanese donburi stall selling mentaiko rice bowls, curry rice and more!
