Fried hokkien mee is a dish that’s often cooked with lard and pork, which means halal-friendly versions are hard to come by. So if you’re ever looking for one, look no further than Bedok Corner Hokkien Prawn Mee, a stall in Bedok Food Centre that’s been offering halal hokkien mee for several decades.

Netizens have noted that the elderly couple who used to run the stall retired not too long ago, and it is now in the hands of a new owner. While some claimed that standards have dipped, many others have continued patronising the stall for its wok hei-filled noodles.

The smallest plate of Fried Hokkien Mee here costs $5, with $12 being the largest option. Regardless of which size you get, it is said that the hokkien mee here is moist, aromatic, and flavourful, with each strand of noodles having a pleasing texture. You can expect prawns and sotong to feature on your plate too.

The sambal belacan served on the side also receives plenty of praise. Many have noted how fragrant and piquant it is, with just that slight spicy kick to excite your senses.

Depending on the time you arrive, you may have to queue a while for your plate of fried hokkien mee. But if the popularity of the stall is anything to go by, you may be in for a treat.
