With our daily battle against inflation, there’s not much we can do with a meagre sum of $0.80 in our pockets—or so you thought. Following its first outlet in Yishun, which is set to shut down in June 2023, BKK Bistro & Bar has recently opened its doors in Kallang.Â

The Thai Boat Noodle takes centre stage here, and true to traditional boat noodles served at Thai floating markets, it comes in tiny portions for only $0.80++ each. You can choose between glass noodle and rice noodle, and red tom yum or herb soup for your boat noodles. There are a total of six toppings to choose from: prawn, beef ball, beef slice, pork ball, pork liver, and pork slice. According to some online reviews, the tom yum soup seems to be a crowd favourite thanks to its zesty and tangy flavour.

Among the several side dishes available to complement the boat noodles, we recommend getting the Crispy Pork Belly Served With Honey Mustard Sauce ($10.80++). The puffy, crackling skin and juicy meat is hard to resist, and the crunchy texture makes a hearty pairing with the slurpy noods.Â

To end your Thai food experience on a sweet note, you can give the Rainbow Sticky Rice Ball With Fresh Mango Slice ($9.80++) a try. Unlike the regular white glutinous rice version sold in most Thai restaurants, the sticky rice at BKK Bistro & Bar comes in five balls of different colours. Better yet, the mango slices and rice balls are drenched in creamy coconut milk. This dessert is sure to satisfy those with a sweet tooth!
