Earlier this year, we were sad to learn about the closure of popular grilled meats and burger hawker stall BlackGoat. So you can imagine how excited we were when they announced a limited-time pop-up at this year’s Gemilang Kampong Gelam Ramadan Bazaar. Teaming up with La Birria Tacos, the two-day pop-up will serve burgers, lamb chops and more, running only till 14 March 2026.
The limited-time menu can be found at La Birria Tacos’ booth, located along Kandahar Street. Sales start from 8pm, but portions are limited, so we recommend heading down early to beat the crowd!
The star of the show has to be their White Pepper Fried Chicken Burger, Chipotle And Zat’Ar ($18): a juicy and crispy fried chicken patty with fresh lettuce, onions, and a house-made spicy and smoky chipotle sauce, finished with a herbaceous blend of toasted sesame, thyme and sumac, all between two toasted buns. Due to high demand, do note that each customer is limited to one burger only.
Another standout is the Free Range Lamb Chops, Pistachio Salsa Verde, Rose And Tortilla ($30.50 for 250g), featuring a huge grilled lamb chop drizzled in an earthy and spicy green chilli salsa, then finished with a scatter of rose petals. You also get two toasted tortillas and a side of grilled pineapple.
Don’t miss out on La Birria’s Signature Quesa Birria Tacos, Consomme, Lime ($13), featuring two crispy pan-fried corn tortillas stuffed with tender shredded beef, melty cheese, onions, and cilantro, served alongside a rich and spicy birria dip.
If you’re craving something lighter on the palette, go for their Malay Caesar Salad, Kaffir Lime, Parmesan Cheese ($12.50) instead, starring crisp romaine lettuce tossed in a creamy Caesar dressing with tangy kaffir lime and a load of freshly grated parmesan.
La Birria Tacos’ Kampong Gelam kiosk is located at Kampong Gelam, a quick nine-minute walk from Nicoll Highway MRT Station and a 15-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station.
