Burnt Cones Has $1 Scoops Promo To Celebrate Their SMU Opening

Burnt Cones opening in SMU

Popular gelato joint Burnt Cones is opening an outlet in SMU’s Li Ka Shing Library tomorrow, 5 October, and to celebrate their grand opening, they’re selling scoops for just $1, if you take a photo of their shop and its sign, and post it on Instagram.

The $1 cone promotion runs from 5 October to 7 October, from 3pm to 7pm on Thursday to Friday, and 11am to 3pm on Saturday. The outlet is located inside Ima-Sushi, an affordable Japanese restaurant that we recently visited.

All you have to do to enjoy Burnt Cones’ famed gelato for $1 is simply snap a photo of the shop with “Burnt Cones”, tag their account, @burnt cones, and #burntcones, and share it on Instagram. Show it to the counter staff, and redeem your cheap scoop. Each scoop is typically priced around $5, so it’s quite the steal!

You can usually expect 12 flavours on rotation, including some classics. These include the aromatic Ube, a great one for fans of taro as it made with the purple Filipino yam. Otherwise, their nutty Black Sesame is another one of our favourites—the nuttiness of goma really shines through here, and it isn’t too sweet.

Another unique thing about Burnt Cones is that, true to its name, you get to pick the doneness of the cone your ice cream comes in. There are three levels:  light, medium, or dark, each more charred than the last. The cones are also made on-site, so they’re fresh, eggy, and buttery—the ideal complement to the gelato.

While Burnt Cones doesn’t have halal certification, their ice cream and cones are free from pork, lard, and alcohol.

If their SMU outlet isn’t the most convenient for you, Burnt Cones has a few other outlets located in NUS, NEWest Mall, and Sunset Way. They’ve also got a CBD cafe in The Sail @ Marina Bay, though it is currently, temporarily closed.
