If you’ve tried Ji Xiang Ang Ku Kueh’s rainbow ang ku kueh and loved it, here’s something new for you to order at the Singapore Food Festival. The ang ku kueh specialists have created a Sambal Ang Ku Kueh ($3.50), generously stuffed with their very own, house-made sambal.
These ang ku kueh are only available for preorder on their website at least a day before collection. They’ll only be sold over the counter if there are extras, while stocks last.

For Korean BBQ with a local twist, head to Jinjjia Korean BBQ at Bugis+! The Smokey Chili Crab Dip With Sesame Bread Stick And Warm Mini Brioche ($23.50++) is a classy take on the famed local delight, featuring a house-made chilli gravy that’s full of peeled crab meat. It’s served with bread sticks and eggy brioche buns━a change from the usual fried man tou!

Tarte By Cheryl Koh makes some pretty good tarts, and this Singapore Food Festival, they’ve come up with two all-new, limited edition fusion creations that imbue some classic, local ingredients. The Lime and Mixed Herb Chantilly Tart ($52) is a refreshing, bright and citrusy take on a typical lemon meringue tart. It’s lightly perfumed with lemongrass, basil, and mint, topped with edible flowers for a summery finish.
Their second creation is the Pandan Coconut Saint Honoré Cake ($60), which marries a traditional French cake with Singaporean flavours. A Saint Honoré cake, invented in 1847, comprises a base of puff pastry, topped with choux puffs drizzled in caramel, and creme Chiboust, AKA pastry cream that’s lightened with the addition of Italian meringue. Here, the Chiboust cream is enriched with coconut, the choux are piped with pandan cream, and a gula melaka caramel ties it all together.
Each of these serves four to six generously, and is only available for preorders. They’ll only be making 25 lime tarts and 15 pandan cakes daily.

Pandan is a flavour that’s very quintessentially Singaporean, and dal.komm COFFEE infuses this into not one, but two items that you can have together. The Kaya Cruffin with Vanilla Ice Cream ($7.50) sees a warm, buttery pastry topped with kaya and butter, reimagining our favourite kaya toast in this fusion delight. Pair this with the Pandan Latte (from $7), which comes in a dual-layered drink of milky green and brown, for a complete meal.

Hae mee meets ramen, zhnged-up with wonton at Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen for a local fusion dish that will warm your heart. The Shrimp Wanton Ramen ($13.80) spotlights a shrimp tonkotsu broth, rich with the flavours of pork and prawn, paired with QQ ramen, and silky smooth wontons stuffed with succulent chunks of prawn.

The party nights at Zouk haven’t happened in a while, but head to Capital Kitchen for dinner in the club, and relive some of your best memories while you’re at it. For the Singapore Food Festival, resident mixologist Ashwin Raj has concocted three cocktails: Kopi-O Fashioned, Limau Ice, and Pineapple Tart Cocktail━flavours that are sure to remind 90’s kids of childhood. Priced at $20++ each, these drinks pair perfectly with a trio of Har Cheong Gai Sliders ($12++), Kong Bak Quesadillas ($18++), and a Kaya Tart ($10++) for undeniably Singaporean flavours.

If you’re one for the theatrics, pay a visit to Mimi Restaurant at The Riverhouse in Clarke Quay. The modern Chinese restaurant literally sets your order of Bak Kut Teh ($18++) on fire at the table, so be careful not to get too close! You get to choose if you want it soupy or dry, but either way, it’ll be doused in rose wine and flambéed for that final pizzazz.

Another pandan dessert you can add to your list this SFF 2021 is the Ondeh Ondeh Souffle Stackers ($19.90++) at Typhoon Café! These jiggly pancakes are available at both the Plaza Singapura and Bugis+ outlets, but it’s only counted as an SFF exclusive item at Plaza Singapura━so take note if you’re chalking up those STAR$, or gunning for the limited edition tote bag!
Here, the pandan souffle pancakes are prepared to order, paired with vanilla bean ice cream and lots of fresh desiccated coconut that’s topped with palm sugar. The gula melaka syrup comes on the side, so you can drizzle as little, or as much, as you like.
If you’re headed to the Bugis+ outlet, the SFF fusion special is an Exclusive Local Delights Set Menu ($19.90++), which gets you a Typhoon Egg Fried Rice, a slice of Ondeh Ondeh Cake, and a bubble milk tea with pearls!

Arteastiq De Patio at Plaza Singapura presents a fusion Satay Chicken Pizza ($25) this Singapore Food Festival, where chonky pieces of chicken, marinated satay-style, sit on a pizza base alongside slices of cucumber and onion. It’s also slathered with the requisite peanut sauce for that unmistakable satay combination.
