I’ve been writing my fill of cafe food guides over the last month, but because I love cafes, I’ll never tire of finding new ones. Joining the list of Upper Thomson cafes that you should visit is Cava Cafe, a pet-friendly cafe with all-day brunch and specialty coffee.

Whether you’re here with a two- or four-legged friend, the spacious cafe has plenty of room in both their indoor and outdoor dining areas.

Besides soaking in the cafe vibes, satisfy your belly with their bestselling Chicken & Croffles ($20+), served with crispy chicken, croffles that are made to order, with a side of butter maple and coleslaw.

Another waffle dish on the menu is Roffles Platter ($20+) which sees a freshly made rosti waffle paired with sauteed mushrooms, sausages, a poached egg, sundried tomato, and lime hollandaise dressing.

Otherwise, if you’re feeling adventurous, go for the locally inspired Otah Bruschetta ($18+) that’s said to be quite the hit.

If you love carbs, they’ve got Sakura Cream Tagliatelle ($20+), where the thick-cut pasta is dressed in mentaiko cream and tossed with scallops, tiger prawns, clams, and cherry tomatoes, then finished with sakura ebi. On the side, try their Truffle Bacon Mac & Cheese ($12+) that stars a house-made cheese mix, topped with Grana Padano cheese.

On the drinks front, there’s specialty coffee sourced from homegrown brand Hook Coffee, transformed into the likes of Iced Puff Rice Cafe Latte ($8+) and Sea Salt Caramel Latte ($8+). If you prefer something without coffee, go for the Milky Popcorn ($8+) that’s a Japanese sencha with roasted rice and butterscotch popcorn notes.

End the meal with Insta-worthy desserts including Matcha Opera Cake ($9+) which boasts matcha chiffon sponge, layered with matcha mousse and ganache, or Yuzu Cheesecake ($8+).
